I had my first parachute jump today and I was terrified. This guy strapped himself to me and we jumped out. As we plummited he said "So how long have you been an instructor?"

So all these dictators, you cant jinx with a 100 attempts. One innocent centenarian jogger who presumably never oppressed any nations, and the Drol jinx cant work faster!

Damn shite day at work, if it can go wrong it has (I had a list of 9 disasters) and I have two bumbling trainees, a field supervisor who has made two unannounced visits in two days (inexplicably) and on top of all that we were told we were living in a hotel, then this morning told we had a trailer coming on site—after I moved everything I brought into a hotel. So I’m moving at 4am on the morrow. I promise her list is at the forefront of my efforts in the morning.

As I've oft said on here, huge fan of her work. Sad news (though she lived a long and fruitful life).

QO: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/jan/24/diana-athill-writer-and-editor-dies-aged-101 Sad, and a bit of a missed opportunity, for the List.

This is...several different shades of wrong. Someone has remixed Smells Like Teen Spirit in a major key, and interestingly it now sounds a bit like a pop-punk track from 2000.

Might I say, Researched To Death is a fantastic team name.

If I get this right, Zimbabwe’s “biggest jazz musician” I repeat from Zimbabwe, gets a QO? Do you now understand why Sir Creep is and remains clueless as to having any antennae on the QO front? SC

Noam Chomsky is now into his nineties. Could be a candidate.

Tbh, even if a candidate I don’t like gets the nomination I will still vote for the democrat rather than a third party candidate cause it’s much more important to get Trump out of office than to protest the democratic nomination this time.

Well, she's definitely further left than most Democrats. She has a record of being tough on Wall Street. However, she's voted for increasing the military budget a few times lately (as have many other Democrats, unfortunately). So that was quite disappointing of her. In some ways she also comes off as a bit opportunist. She chose not to endorse Bernie in 2016, likely because she didn't want to get on the bad side of the Hillary-wing of the party. She's a bit of a calculating politician - and she used to be much more honest, aggressive and opinionated. So it appears that being in Congress for a few years has changed her, and not in a good way. Overall, I guess you could say she's somewhat Bernie-lite. But Bernie is certainly to the left of her. Personally, I would easily vote for Bernie (or even Ojeda or Tulsi Gabbard) over Liz Warren in the Democratic primaries. However, I would have no problem casting my vote for Warren in the general election. If the nominee is somebody like Joe Biden, I would just vote third party probably. But yeah - Warren meets the ''progressive enough'' threshold where I would vote for her in the general election.

Phillip wouldn't be housebound if they took his license as he would be able to have access to a driver. So not sure that would finish him.

I guess Andrew Fairlie becomes my first ever hit in the DDP. A 'rejected' pick in the alt.obituaries one. Also means rejigging my planned Deathlist Cup team. I suspect I'm not the only one.
