Congrats to RadGuy for submitting a really outstanding list! (all lists are posted at the beginning of the thread) He ran away with it this year. I like this format, but it does result in a LOT of names to patrol so thanks to everyone for policing their own lists. I hope no scoring got missed, but that is part of the responsibility of deadpooling - - know your lists! Thanks to everyone for making it a high scoring year and to Sir Creep for picking it up for year 3. I would have done it otherwise, but since the offer was there, I am going to step down and let him run it. I will focus on my other pools for now. But I will certainly be watching for the call for entries from Sir Creep and plan to submit my best list yet for year 3!

Why doesn't a mod just merge all posts concerning her into a thread? I mean, she's been on Drop Forty for 2 years now.

Yesterday was Jimmy and Rosalynn's 73rd anniversary. As long as nothing happens to either of them in the next 111 days, or by October 27th of this year, they will surpass George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush as the longest married U.S. presidential couple. https://people.com/politics/jimmy-rosalynn-carter-celebrate-73-years-of-marriage/

I feel the best way to beat out Donald Trump is someone on the populist left, because then they would be able to counter Trump’s phony populism without much issue. If a more centrist candidate is selected as the nominee, Trump could easily try to (and potentially succeed too) put them as an establishment politician, and Trump wouldn’t be wrong there. Granted, it’ll still be difficult for him to hold the three rust belt states regardless (he isn’t that well liked there), but putting a centrist as the nominee will definitely improve his chances of winning in 2020 and potentially cause more damage to the country...

Congratulations Rad! Well deserved, quite the gap. I guess I have to raise my game next time. That was quite the failure.

Her legs remind me a bit of that one picture of Sri Sri near the end of his life where his feet were super bloated. Granted, she doesn't look nearly as poorly as Sri Sri did in his final few years, but very very few people look that bad.

We really ought to have a dedicated thread for annoying new idioms and general modern misuse of language. Take this report on the BBC website (my bold): "An Asian couple who tried to conceive through IVF has claimed that a mix-up at a California fertility clinic left them pregnant with the wrong children. A lawsuit filed by the couple in New York states that the couple was shocked to give birth to two boys who were not of Asian descent, US media reported. The lawsuit says DNA tests confirmed the children were not related to the couple and they relinquished custody. The fertility clinic has not commented on the allegations. The couple - identified in the lawsuit only as AP and YZ to minimise the "embarrassment and humiliation" - say they tried for years to get pregnant before spending more than $100,000 (£80,000) on the IVF, or in vitro fertilisation, including medication, laboratory fees, travel and other costs."

11 days later... 1)Andrea Camilleri: condition unchanged. Nothing has been released about him. 2)Gigi Simoni: condition unchanged. Nothing has been released about him. 3)Balbir Singh: still at Chandigarh PGI, but recovering and expected to be discharged very soon, according to his daughter. 3)Ershad: now breathing on his own and "well" according to his brother. Full recovery expected. 5)Beji Caid Essebsi: discharged from hospital and resumed his duties. Really had nothing to worry about. 6)Sir Everton Weekes: was never in critical conditions and only suffered a "minor" heart attack and fully recovered. 7)Zaheen Tahira: Taken off life support and shifted to a regular ward from ICU, now expected to make a full recovery. Fuck you, medical science.

Yes, she looks awful and will be a miracle if she makes it to 2020. She is 102 so it won't be a sad day.

Well done @RadGuy, one of my favourite people here. Quick FYI — I am driving 14 hours to a rig in west Texas. Give me a couple days to settle in, and I shall devote my focus to this DP then. I’ve not abandoned the post lol. SirC edit - first line of business is my slapping a team together and sending to someone for safe keeping. Then a consultation from 2018 DungeonMaster as best way to organise entries. Yay!

My phone’s autocorrect is such a bastard. To my embarrassment, I’ve just texted my mate asking if he wanted to go for a wank by the river. I meant the canal.

No numbers and no birthdates. So it's probably easier for you. And if you do that, there'll be some easy bonus points right away. More details in a few months. Also, it seems like there's a common consensus about some of the suitable names for replacement. Kind of everyone has Tom Long, Ivan Milat and Lee Noble. (Plus many have Michael Sleggs) So I think I might allow myself 2-3 subs in the next year. It's not like I could steal these picks if everyone knows them anyway..... Here also, more details in a few months.

Some Marieke Vervoort News from July 1, 2019: Marieke Vervoort shares heartbreaking video: "I can't do it anymore" https://nl.metrotime.be/2019/07/01/must-read/marieke-vervoort-deelt-hartverscheurende-video-ik-kan-niet-meer/ Google translation: The former wheelchair athlete Marieke Vervoort has shared a gripping video in which she is in despair. Vervoort has been fighting for years against terrible pains caused by progressive tetraplegia, a paralyzing disease. Marieke "Wielemie" Vervoort is going through hell. The 40-year-old former wheelchair athlete, who won a gold and silver medal at the Paralympic Games, suffers from progressive tetraplegia, a disease in which her arms and legs are paralyzed. As a result, she often lives in hellish pain, just like last weekend. Vervoort shared a video in which she moans with pain and indicates that she cannot continue like this. “My pain is not fair. They can't do this to anyone. Since Saturday afternoon I have started to give up enormously. I can not handle it any longer. I can't even get a drink. I can't do anything. It doesn't work anymore. It must stop. When is everything finally okay? When will it finally stop? All promises, all beautiful words, until you ask the real truth, but then you get no answer, "it sounds. Wielemie recently filmed a documentary about her life. It will premiere in New York in December. "I am really looking forward to that, but I just don't know if I will last that long," she said earlier in Dag Allemaal.
