He is also famous though for his work with Ralph Lauren on mass marketing the polo shirt, and also teaching Jimmy Hendrix how to play guitar and being Roger Federer's tennis coach when he was young.

She's not half famous or half noteworthy by any stretch.

Christ on a bike, no personal offence meant, but every time, every single time, somebody half noteworthy (and any soap star is at best only half noteworthy) carks it somebody calls it a 'miss by the committee'. There are thousands, literally (the real meaning, not the snowflake version) thousands of famous people who 'could' be on the list. from which they pick 50, leaving thousands -50 that weren't picked. Picking some half famous bod that 'did' die and calling it a 'miss' is really getting on my tits. *genuinely gooseberry, this isn't a dig at you, more that it happens a lot and this was just the latest.

I said silly miss not big miss. TV soaps were a big and dominant influence in popular culture for years in the UK.They may not be your thing, heck they dont even need to be my thing for me to consider some of the cast members to be noted for the deathlist. She was the central character, the matriarch of the main family the show was originally based around .She isnt just any actor who has appeared in a soap. She is just as worthy as June Brown and Leah Bracknell to be on the list and in terms of the UK ,and this is predominantly a UK site, she is more famous than say Bob Barker . You not having heard of her is neither here or there! Your other point about mathematics basically amounts to saying apart from say the Queen and Prince Philip there is no such thing as a miss because your point could be more or less argued for all other names. Younger cast members of the now declining genre of soaps I would not automatically be inclined to think of as a bit of a miss. .Actors or actresses who played big or iconic soap characters from the shows golden era I would be more inclined to say could be described as misses. Say Julie Goodyear, Barbara Knox, June Brown, Anita Dobson etc Heck if Corries Bill Roache lived to be 100 and was not on the list and then died I would class it as a bit of a miss and then some! Not the end of the world note but just a bit of a miss. I suspect you may be conflating and confusing your lack of interest in soaps with her not being a miss or worthy of inclusion on the deathlist.

If we're talking semantics here, she's definitely more of a deathlist-y name than Perez de Cuellar. Can anyone even name the current Secretary-General of the UN? His stint as PM of Peru only lasted 8 months. It's definitely a miss, but there's plenty of misses each year. Nobody's perfect.

I've never heard of her. Regardless. There are thousands of people who are famous enough by whatever measure you use to go on the list. The committee can pick 50. This leaves thousands -50 that aren't on the list. One of these thousands -50 dies and it's a 'big miss'? Bollocks. It's simple arithmetic.

First-time entrant here. I thought, rather than put any effort into my team whatsoever, I'd use the 25 names I'm carrying from my shadow list and see how the fuckers do. Subs are 3 random names knocking about at the moment. Javier Perez de Cuéllar (WILDCARD) Kirk Douglas Anne Buydens Olivia de Havilland Terry Jones Bill Turnbull George Alagiah Jean-Louis Trintignant Lee Kerslake Katherine Jackson Leslie Phillips Prince Philip Jimmy Carter Mikhail Gorbachev Murray Walker Nobby Stiles Stirling Moss Pope Benedict XVI Little Richard Henry Kissinger Prunella Scales Trevor Peacock Valery Giscard d’Estaing Nicholas Parsons Vera Lynn SUB1) Alex Trebek SUB2) Daniel Arap Moi SUB3) Bob Dole

I am very dissapointed when I see people who believe that eu is a dictatorship or something like that (I live in a country in which similar views had totally dominated some years before in the society with exponents mostly from far left and far right). They haven't understand its importance and efforts for peace and progress. I can't think anything better than EU.

I have received a few teams now. As with last year, I will not look into the mails until 1st of January. However, in the forum direct message menu you can see the first two lines of a recent message, so I can usually tell if it's a team submission or a question. Because of one such message I have to write the following here: Once submitted teams cannot be changed simply because other names become available. Only two exceptions: If your joker dies prematurely, you may choose another one. If you need new subs, you can add them at the end of the line.

Also everybody who voted for the Labour Party, voted for an antisemitic supporter of terrorist organizations like the Hamas or the Hizbollah. And of course a vote for the Labour Party is also an for the EU Dictatorship.

My current verdicts as we enter the final quarter of the year and with Ginger gone. Kirk Douglas - Think he'll see his 103rd and 2020 now. Olivia De Haviland - Should be fine for the 2020 starting line. Duke of Edinburgh - Slowly deteriorating but should last a bit yet. Leah Bracknell - Continues to defy the odds, could see 2021 let alone 2020. Vera Lynn - Accelerating health, don't think she'll survive the winter. Jimmy Carter - Not going anywhere soon but too old to be dropped now. Pierre Cardin - Quiet of late but his age makes him too risky to be dropped. Bob Dole - Looks like he will get a really high position in the 2020 list if he makes it. Henry Kissinger - Still making public appearances despite being unable to walk. Jerry Stiller - Quiet of late but could be worth dropping next year. Javier Perez De Cueller - Could go any time. Bob Barker - Somehow managing to cling on. Murray Walker - Still writing columns but too old to be dropped now. Emperor Akihito - Nothing new about his health, could be a risky drop for next year. Betty White - Could last a bit yet but too big to miss of course. Hosni Mubarak - Quiet of late but still young enough to take a DL sabbatical. June Brown - Still acting, worth dropping for 2020. Stirling Moss - Could go any time. Alan Greenspan - Wasted pick Dick Van Dyke - One of the most stupid picks ever, not going anywhere, must be dropped for 2020. Nobby Stiles - Somehow still clinging on, must be at least top 10 for the 2020 list if he makes it. Barbara Walters - Worth bringing her back for the 2020 list. Honor Blackman - Not been seen in public for a few years now, think she's a lock until she goes. Harry Belafonte - Quiet of late but should stay on the list every year now. Desmond Tutu - Looked really well recently with Prince Harry and his entourage, a worthy drop next year. Valery Giscard d'Estaing - Now outlived two of his successors, stood unaided at Chirac's funeral recently, I'd drop him for 2020. Ed Asner - Wasted pick. Vanessa Redgrave - Too early Jimmy Greaves - Needs a lot of care now, think he's a goner for 2020. Sidney Poitier - Worth keeping for next year. Cleo Laine - Still performing regularly but an interesting pick. I'd bring her back for 2021. Loretta Lynn - Looked reasonably well at a recent awards ceremony. I'd drop her for 2020. Michael Gorbechav - In and out of hospital lately, could well be a 2020 goner. Tony Britton - Quiet of late but too old to be dropped. Clive James - Should see out the year but must be at least top 15 for the 2020 list. Prunella Scales - Should last a bit yet. Little Richard - Either this year or early next year. Larry King - Could well be a 2020 goner. Tina Turner - Wasted pick. Shane McGowan - Had to be on the DL sometime but I'd bring him back for 2021.

I am just baffled about the fact that most people seem to agree the country is in a total mess but have re elected the govt that has been in charge for the last 10 years. What's that all about ?!

According to last weeks Sunday Times, Nicholas Parsons has missed a regular public Christmas appearance for the first time ever at Chelsea Old Church. "Wasn't feeling well enough to attend" - Mail also chuck in a reference to being gravely ill because they like to scare folk. Well, I hope they do...
