One of the most famous and popular congressman, John Lewis, has been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He is also a civil rights icon in America. I believe he is deserving to be on the list next year.

No point in having a 2020 thread now, so please put your possibilities up so we can study, discuss and ignore your picks.

Anyone who selects The Clone Wars needs a lobotomy..... EDIT: To clarify anyone who watches The Clone Wars needs a lobotomy too. It does not belong in a Star Wars marathon (I've walked out of an Star Wars marathon after someone informed me Clone Wars was up next...... just why...... can only assume it was designed as a break )

Hmm, let me see. UK based deathlist picks John Lewis. 90 percent of the UK goes "Daft idiots, picking a department store to die!" Sadly, it's a fact....he isn't deathlisty for UK-ers. I appreciate the US side of the argument, take it to a US deathlist. (Whaur's my Union Flag to wave? )

Ah man. Biggest shame is that he didn't live long enough to dance on Eric Idle's grave.

Roey motherhumping Juss. 9,000 posts in 3 and a half years? Go out and find some gash/cock my son. But congratulations anyway geezer. And well done. If I may be so arrogant for one brief moment as to play a judge on post quality (i know, rich from me right), you've gone skyrocketing this year. And the work you do on dead pools, it doesn't go unnoticed. EDIT: This took a while to type out because all the letters are moving about for some reason so excuse if this doesn't make sense.

    He might like that, though.

I've got a very strong feeling and sense that 2020 is going to be a watershed, landmark end of an era kind of year as we embark upon a new decade. I think a lot of big or significant names will finally pass away next year. More so than in 2016 a year many highlight as being a big year for celebrity/famous deaths. Prince Philip, Vera Lynn, Kirk Douglas amongst the names I expect to fall next year as well as current and former world leaders like Mikhail Gorbachev, Jimmy Carter, Sultan of Oman etc More of the winning England 1966 football team as well sadly are likely. Anybody else got the feeling that 2020 in terms of not just the official deathlist but wider deadpooling or famous deaths is going to be an unusually big momentous year? PS Hope the crude metaphor does not offend!

I have the theory that over time there are more and more famous people because of new media formats and their expansion, radio ,tv, the internet. Because of this statistically speaking over they years their should be more famous people dying every year as their are more famous people in general

Mark Hollis for me. I know he's not as big a name as Doris Day, Carol Channing, Keith Flint, Peter Tork, Scott Walker, etc but his death is still a sad surprise. He seemed to me an active and healthy person.

The pool is open for picks until the 15th, then it locks down. I figured to wait until the rush of deadpool activity slows after the new year to put out a reminder for folks about this one. The yearly bonus category is currently being voted on, so that may influence some picks. It's now down to death by cancer, or death under 50. It's close, 52/48, so get your vote in before New Years. I never figured I would say these words, but GO CANCER!

Nah, I'm done for metaphors after Spade's "2019 deaths = tomato ketchup precum" one earlier this year. And yeah, given the way the dominoes are placed, 2020 feels like a big year in waiting...
