Barry White, long-time soul singer who made himself an attraction in the 70's with his romantic songs who suffered from hypertension and chronic high blood pressure, was hospitalized for kidney failure. White was undergoing dialysis treatment, but the combination of illnesses proved too much and he died at a West Hollywood hospital on this date in 2003.
He was 58 years old.
During the course of his long career in the music business, White earned an astounding 106 gold albums, 41 of which also attained platinum status, 20 gold platinum singles and 10 platinum singles, his musical talent had earned him more than one hundred million dollars in worldwide record sales.
Barry White's body was cremated and his ashes were scattered.
