six feet under was the only one to buzz in for Bamber Gascoigne, getting on the board with his starter for 25 (sub points). La Veneno actress Isabel Torres gives venomous bite to Banana's offense, with 40 base points plus 16 points boosting his effort by 56. Beryl Vertue was the most picked hit of this update, on two teams. Still a unique scorer though, for only YorkshireBanker had her on his main team and gains 10 base points plus 4 bonus for 14 total. Toast relegated her to her subs, obtaining 50 points and becoming the first player this year to score with both subs. Gail Halvorsen sweetens things up for Famous6Eva, dropping 28 points (20 base + 8 bonus) their way. Quite a few teams attaining their first points this update, and another is JoeMoneypenny with Chor Yuen providing 10 base points and 4 bonus points for 14 overall. Catherine Wybourne logging out seems to be vindicating DevonDeathTrip's habit (hehe) of picking eclectic religious characters for the HPDP. The second faller of his main ten, her base 45 points are complemented by 18 bonus points for a 63-point haul. And here comes the latest scoreboard. Banana sneaks into second, but there continues to be considerable gap between Book and the chasing pack. And illustrating the beauty of the HPDP, we have a team without Gary Burgess on the cusp of the top 5. Imagine that happening in the DDP! 1. Book 290 2. Banana 180.81 3. Salmon Mousse 176 4. gcreptile 172.81 5. msc 160 6. DevonDeathTrip 158 7. CaptainChorizo 117 8. Pedro67 113 9. maryportfuncity 112 10. Kenny 99 11. Annami 94 12. An uninspiring team sets out for me of 4 DDP picks, 5 ailing sports folk, 1 Drol name and another name I nabbed off here. Like Grim I also dropped Sanchez late on. Nigel Starmer-Smith seems the most obvious danger as a 4 pointer who could go any time. My conclusion is that MariNisia has a good team with the potential to really do a number on my mediocre efforts. Anyhow, lets see the draw for the next round... Oh good lord...

He's not in the GRO Index up until Dec 2020, but I can go one better than that. He's still alive and based in Bournemouth as of 2022 (as per 192 People). I wasn't too familiar with 192 when I did the 60s/70s entries. I've updated the entry for Our Kid with a note at the bottom clarifying that Rowan is alive (though I never marked him as deceased anyway as I strongly suspected the comments online declaring him dead were from a hoaxer).

I’d like to put in a shout for Gary Brooker. Maybe not such a big name but, in terms of global reach, he was the voice of one of the few records to sell over 10 million copies worldwide.

Richard Gordon Guindon, 86, died the evening of Feb. 27 in Northport, Michigan, after a long illness. Guindon’s six-decade career began at the university’s Minnesota Daily, where he penned a cartoon that was described as “social commentary a la Jules Feiffer with a bite.” In New York, he was a regular contributor to The Nation, Playboy, Esquire, Down Beat, and one of his favorite gigs, as an underground cartoonist for Paul Krassner’s The Realist. That led to syndication at the Minneapolis Tribune and later brought him to Detroit in the early 1980s. Guindon retired from the Detroit Free Press in 2005. SC
