3 pointsMiller also designed the Rocketeer suit for the titular film and sculpted the basic prosthetics for Davy Jones' tentacle beard in the Pirates of the Caribbean film, among many many other credits. One of great those unsung heroes of film props and effects. RIP.

2 pointsI think the 2023 deathlist has the potential to be the best one. I think the deathlist in 2023 should focus more on people who serious ill rather than just really old. Too many deathlist hits are just a random 90+ year old who just drops one day. That's boring.

1 pointShadow DeathList Competition 2023 Do you consider yourself a champion Deathlister who can do better than the DeathList Commitee? Come for the competition, stay for the arguments that occur in that we're not following the EXACT rules of the committee. This is more of a "everyone who already makes a normal Shadow DeathList should come and submit this here anyway" kind of thing, to explain the motive of this competition and why the rules are generally relaxed. Here are the rules & guidelines: Have a list of 50 celebrities chosen by yourself, for their likelihood to die in 2023. Include up to five subs. Submit your list as neatly as possible. A numbered list of correctly spelled names would be great. Extra details would only be needed if there's another celebrity with that name. Candidates must be famous enough that their death is confidently expected to be reported by any countries media I will usually provide a judgement call or ask for some opinions in the forum. We won't challenge names until after their death. Candidates cannot be famous solely for the fact they are likely to die imminently - this includes people famous only for their advanced age. Names on the scoreboard will only count AFTER you submit your list. If you submitted your list on the main Shadow Lists Forum or another similar forum late this may be taken into consideration. Late submissions and private messages to me are also considered - private message lists will be publicly posted after the 1st of January for transparency. There's no deadline on submitting a list, posting here is preferred. No late submissions should be using information from 2023 that wasn't available to those who submitted their list in 2022. Things to keep in mind about any person you choose: Are they likely to obit in a major newspaper? Are they a well known celebrity? Do they have a Wikipedia page in any language (that clearly wasn't made just for Deathlisting) You will not be asked to prove any of these when you post your list, but upon your candidates death you may need to meet some of these criteria. More specific DeathList committee rules may be considered for authenticity but aren't necessary for this. (e.g. only keeping a maximum of 25 names from your previous list) Scoring System: One death = One Point All lists, comments, and discussions should be made in good faith, I will try and act in good faith as well. Please feel free to announce deaths, especially obscure ones! I pick up names of everyone who dies in the Derby Dead Pool through Who's Dead So Far. I make mistakes and am human, but will keep a log of everything as I score it through commenting and on the first page. Please feel comfortable to point out any mistakes I make along the way Happy DeathListing

1 pointOn this day exactly 50 years ago in 1972, one of Hollywoods most influential gossip columnists Louella Parsons died aged 91. She was regarded as the undisputed Queen of Hollywood gossip until the arrival of the colourful and flamboyant Hedda Hopper who she feuded with for years. In her earlier career she earned the regard of press baron William Randolph Hearst for championing his mistress actress Marion Davies career , urging the public to give her films a go and he retained her employer when he bought the newspaper she worked for. Parsons regarded herself as the arbiter of social and moral standards in Hollywood-leading many actors to fear her words more than the views of film critics. One of her biggest scoops was breaking the news of the impending divorce of Hollywood couple Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. Foolishly Pickford regarded Parsons as a friend of sorts and confided in Parsons about the impending split assuming that Parsons would not use the information in her column. Louellas husband was a urologist and a Hollywood physician and it is suspected that she got some of her exclusive gossip scoops from confidential inside information he shared with her.

1 pointWill be 99 in March, and defo a deathlisty name imo. Mad Irish bastard has had some life (assuming alive). One of his boys died six months ago https://www.scotsman.com/news/obituaries/obituary-peter-duffy-mercenary-soldier-hijacker-ex-convict-chef-photographer-and-raconteur-1-4542468 And I came across this interview from when The Wild Geese was released (he advised on the film) https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/lifestyle/1978/11/13/mad-mike-the-mercenary/473b33ac-3eb3-493d-816c-6560fa239914/?utm_term=.2392ecdcaeb0 Nowt to say in ill health, but age alone could see him in the main List next year. Outlived all his contemporaries by decades, worth a thread.

1 pointI imagine so. That's the start of the process anyway. The Commons will now conclude their own investigation, if she's suspended then her constituents will be able to launch a recall petition. Not that it makes any difference. The SNP are polling so high in that part of Scotland right now, and the their base support is so cultish that if they put up Peter Tobin as a candidate they'd still win.

1 pointSlim Whitman, surprisingly never mentioned on this thread before (in fairness, I thought he'd been dead for 20 years), is now tumbling with the tumbleweeds aged 90. Slim to none.
-
1 pointDo we really need a new thread for this every year? Seems a bit senseless to me.
