10 pointsAgreed. The running joke of 'huge miss' is finally accurate. Barbara Walters and Nichelle Nichols were 2 misses I think could have been avoided. The former Pope? No reason he shouldn't of been Top 5 on this year's DL. Biggest miss of 2022 and, dare i say, of the last few years.
-
8 pointsNow that is what I call a miss. My sincere condolences if you are either a devout Catholic or running a Deadpool which starts in 13 hours time
-

6 pointsOk, team "Going Underground" submitted for my 17th attempt at this ace game. About 16 hours earlier than usual this year. Now I sit and wait until around about this time tomorrow, when it becomes evidently clear I have yet again missed a Gary Burgess type open goal sitter. Thanks in advance for all the effort I know goes into running this thing.

5 pointsI don't think Bernard Cribbins was a real miss. He was still filming at the time he died.

5 pointsServus, Grüezi und Hallo! As you can certainly imagine, the 2022 D-A-CH list fell short of its expectations. Benedict XVI as a hit seems almost like mockery - he would have been the better first hit of 2023. The Pope - disappointing as always Well, let's look ahead, let's hope for a more productive 2023 for our little list. This list was created by frleon, gcreptile, Prophet, TomTomTelekom, WEP and Book. 5 pointsI cancelled on New Years Plans to "look after my dog" - I think the Deathlisting may have been a small contribution to that as well. Large amount of selections like this are usually where I make my mistakes, so I'm trying to be careful as it is the end of the year. Feel free to check the records and stand up for your list - you deserve it. People also called the Pope different things in their list which adds to more potential mistakes. I've tried to be thorough and look for different things he might have been called. (things considered were "pope", "benedict", and I did "XVI" not thinking it would pick any up that I missed - but it picked up our tied champ, gcreptile, who called him Benedikt XVI. Almost missed) Pope Benedict XVI Bibliogryphon 9+1 John Key 22+1 earl 10+1 Theoldlady 21+1 Doulton 7+1 wannamaker 17+1 The Old Crem 13+1 Dying Probably 7+1 Hell 14+1 Salmon Mousse 20+1 Etushispushingupdaisies 6+1 MariNisia 18+1 Gooseberry Crumble 5+1 Annami 17+1 dimreaper 6+1 Death Duke 11+1 jonnythegamemaster 15+1 Nick 14+1 The Daredevil 16+1 _floydylan_ 15+1 arghton 5+1 Book 21+1 gcreptile 22+1 gcreptile 23/50 John Key 23/50 Book 22/50 Theoldlady 22/50 Salmon Mousse 21/50 MariNisia 19/50 wannamaker 18/50 Annami 18/50 The Daredevil 17/50 jonnythegamemaster 16/50 _floydylan_ 16/50 TQR 15/50 Hell 15/50 Nick 15/50 Main Deathlist 14/50 The Old Crem 14/50 markb4 13/50 six feet blunder 12/50 Death Duke 12/50 Pop_Zeus 10/50 earl 11/50 Bibliogryphon 10/50 Redrumours 9/50 Doulton 8/50 Dying Probably 8/50 Etushispushingupdaisies 7/50 dimreaper 7/50 Miranda lass 6/50 arghton 6/50 Gooseberry Crumble 6/50 DieHardGiantsFan 3/50

5 pointsThis news had totally passed me by and alas I have already submitted my list. I suppose there’s still time for a Theme Team of ‘Total Cunts’, although that would be a tough list to narrow down to only 20. Happy New Year everyone!

5 pointsGod doesn't approve of deadpooling, does he... *gnashes teeth and studies '2023 potentials' list once again* RIP Pope Benedict. My main memory of him is that when he spoke English he sounded like Von Smallhausen from Allo Allo.

5 pointsBetty White died on this day a year ago, aged 99. White was already well-known before The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Golden Girls; she had been on TV since the near beginning. In 1953, she created and starred in Life with Elizabeth, making her the first female producer of a sitcom. In 1954, she hosted The Betty White Show- one of the regular performers on her show was Arthur Duncan, a black man- the show was cancelled when White refused to fire him after Jim Crow-state pressure, and sadly, the show was cancelled after failing to find sponsorships. White was also a staple on game shows, such as What's My Line, To Tell the Truth, and most notably Password. She married the latter's host, Allen Ludden, in 1963. Ludden died in 1981, and White's last known word was "Allen". White remains the latest DeathList hit, dying six and a half hours before the new list was supposed to come up- she was supposed to be in the #1 spot, and it is believed that Dick Van Dyke was simply shifted up a space. Denis Law was hastily selected as the replacement name (according to the thread creation time).

4 pointsAfter the hosts have pulled out some hair , cried for half an hour and then had a stiff drink.
-
4 pointsFuck it ! They really missed a big one ! Imagine if they kept Walters and Benedict
-
4 pointsShe was a huge news anchor here in the US, and she was on a popular show called The View. I can't think of any UK connection, but she was on the list previously, so that means the committee knew she'd get a UK obit.

3 pointsRest in peace. I wonder how long he would have lived had he not retired, especially given that his retirement lasted longer than his reign as pope.
-
3 pointsJuggling around with the order is not okay, but adding subs or filling empty slots in order is fine. Hope all you folks have a replacement for the Pope! I won't ask individually, it's too much today. Also, there was one disqualification - Pelé's mother, you know who you are!

3 pointsCheers! On the first page I have all Pele and Barbara Walters bolded with their subs bolded as well, I did the same to my own list. Late deaths are so inconsiderate, they don't even think about us
-
3 pointsPelé and Barbara Walters were hits #22 and #23, meaning the record is now broken.
-
3 pointsRest in peace, Barbara Walters. You were a legendary news anchor and journalist. Funnily enough, this is always the first interview I associate with her name. It's a short segment, but it's pretty iconic.
-
3 pointsI don't think what he said against women or Greta is the problem. The problem is human trafficking.
