The Jimmy Carter National Park has been doing this for weeks. Personally, I'm glad they're posting wholesome stories instead of morbid health updates.

Hello, I'm new here. From looking at President Biden's statement about delivering Carter's eulogy, it seems like it's probably the cancer that was "cured" back in 2015 by immunotherapy that has come back to eventually claim him, though Carter seems to have the fighting spirit of a wolverine.

Luc Besson, the famed film director, producer and screenwriter, best known for his extravagant and spectacular action films, whose credits include "Subway", "The Big Blue", "Nikita", "Leon", "The Fifth Element", "Joan of Arc", "Arthur and the Invisibles", "The Lady", "Lucy", "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" and "Anna", who was born in Paris, France, is 64 today. Shang Chunsong, the impressive Chinese artistic gymnast, probably the most important artistic gymnast of her generation, who grew up in a small village in abject poverty, suffering from malnourishment, who needed to climb a mountain trail everyday to go to school, and dropped out of school at 13 in order to earn money and help pay for her gymnastics, an extraordinary artistic gymnast who won the Chinese National Games in 2013, and with the winnings, she helped her partially blind brother, and won enough to put the down payment on a house for her family, is 27 today.

Btw Marita Camacho Quiros celebrated her 112th birthday. She is in very good condition for 112 if we judge by the photos from her birthday party. Also a 112th birthday is impressive for someone quite notable for reasons other than longevity (she is a former first lady).

I watched these videos and i started to have some doubts about Calment. I think the new evidence he has is these interviews which Calment had given and as he says were recently published. Of course it is possible that old age was the reason she spoke like her daughter would speak quite a lot of times about servants etc, also inconsistencies about Eiffel and Van Gogh, but i found this too much to not start having doubts

I think he meant that he doesn't know why the article chose Glenn Ford as an example to talk about a stroke, since it is a very common occurrence, including celebrities, hence the sarcasm in saying that he was the only one to suffer a stroke And also why are they talking about him now almost 17 years after his death, without even the date of death or death of the same

Exactly 30 years ago today in 1993, Oscar winning American actress Helen Hayes died aged 92. She was part of Hollywoods golden era but worked decades beyond it. Helen was among the earliest winners of the Best Actress Oscar. The Oscars started in the late 1920s and she won for her role in the 1931 film The Sin of Madelon Claudet. Her other film credits are vast and varied including playing Agatha Christies Mrs Marple in Murder with mirrors, Anastasia (1956) co-starring with Yul Brynner and legendary actress Ingrid Bergman, Arsenic and old lace (1969), Hobsons Choice(1954), Crime without passion,This side of Heaven (1934), The Love Bug, Airport (1970), and Herbie rides again.

Not just a politician, he was an incumbent senator and he died in the offices of the senate in Rome. Quite shocking, probably a suicide. English language link

Imagine a team in the 1963 Derby Dead Pool having John F. Kennedy, C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley in their team. 22nd November would have been a bonanza!

I wonder if anyone would have thought to have set up a JFK thread in the early 60s?

Back on topic, I'm struggling to find a solid internet source of evidence on Virginia Calls, it matters because the last I heard she was claiming to be born on January 4th 1894, which would put her well on our radar. Anyone know how solid her claim is? This is the best I've got so far, brief and - apparently - confident of its facts. Wiki doesn't give her a page but states on another page that she 'claims' this age. Also the linked article calls her 'Hall' in the headline and 'Call' in the copy, whilst the Wiki calls her 'Calls.' I mean, it's possible three very similarly named women were born on Jan 4th 1894 and they're all still alive, but more likely there's only one, so WTF is her name?

Is there any chance at all that we could keep this thread on topic and not fill it up with pointless garbage? I hate to sound like Star Crossed, but this is really clogging up the thread. I fully admit and apologize for my own contribution to the mess earlier, but this thread is getting filled up with irrelevant trash.
