5 pointsI'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I always associate Somebody To Love very strongly with Christmas. My grandfather always wanted to hear this song on Christmas Eve, so we turned it up loud and celebrated accordingly. After that he always said what a fantastic piece of music this song is. Always. Each year. This is a great memory for me. And whenever I hear this song, I'm a little sad because I think of my grandfather, who has passed away in the meantime. And at the same time I'm happy because it's such a fantastic piece of music!

4 pointsSo I launched this round quickly before listening to the three songs I didn’t know by name. One of them was Our Kid. Needless to say, I feel silly with my minus points now.

3 pointsHenry "Hotspur" Percy died on this day 620 years ago, aged 39. - On his father's side, Percy was a 3x-great grandson of king Edward I. When he was 12, he would be made a knight by King Edward III (two months before he died). - In his 20s, Percy would fight in Scotland (the Scots gave him the nickname "Harry Hotspur" due to his speed in battle) serve in the Hundred Years' War, seeing combat in France (specifically Calais and Picardy). Percy was also sent as an envoy to Cyprus in 1393. - Percy had gained much favor with King Richard II- but he would support Henry IV's coup against him in 1399. Percy soon became disillusioned with him, with one reason being that he had not paid the ransom to free his brother-in-law Edmund Mortimer from Welsh captors. - After accusing Henry IV of being a tyrant, Percy would amass troops loyal to him (which included his uncle Thomas), and engaged in battle with his forces (which included the heir to the throne, the future Henry V- who would be injured in battle by an arrow to the face). Hotspur would be killed by an arrow to the head; some of his troops thought Henry IV was killed, but the king responded with "Henry Percy is dead", and Percy's troops retreated once they realized he didn't respond (a sign he was killed). His body would be beheaded and quartered, and his lands were confiscated by the government. - Tottenham Hotspur was named after him, for his family had once owned Northumberland Park, where its home stadium is located.

3 pointsThis pointless thread is basically nothing more than a Perez Hilton "all the latest gossip on" column. She has no major health issues and there is no curse. Most of the people around her are fine. What happened DeathList? You used to be cool.

2 pointsRe Kier the Younger, local family heavily embedded in the community, lots of voters who'd known him since he was a baby, and they worked their arses off campaigning. Great swing for Labour of course, but campaign effort and candidate quality (even if not clear to outsiders) is absolutely key. Heard nowt on Ferrier but all the parties are picking folk already! If Tamworth becomes a by-election that poses a problem for the Tories. They've already picked their candidate for next election, the Walsall Tory MP Eddie Hughes!

2 pointsOh look, Johnny Mercer is an idiot. Didn’t see that coming. Few points here: - He says 25 year old MP Keir Mather is too young. Conservative MP Dehenna Davidson was 26 when she was elected in 2019. We’ve seen many Tory MPs elected about this age, and even a PM at 24. - Maybe his point is that a 25yo MP won’t have enough experience to understand the cost of living crisis etc. Like Sunak (worth £3/4bn) does. - Says something about Mather having a chip in him that regurgitates Labour lines. Again, he clearly hasn’t ever seen Sunak in an interview. Mercer was also the one who had a huge pissy fit in the Question Time green room because of a tweet by Carol Vorderman. What a numpty.

2 pointsUpdate on Cale Yarborough from his daughter. Diagnosed with a very rare terminal condition apparently. It does seem to be of the slower progressive multiple sclerosis/dementia type of condition, rather than the fast progressing terminal cancer/ALS kind but regardless definitely a solid choice for DPs this point on.

2 pointsBeen using this song as some sort of coping mechanism as of late. I've noticed that my stutter has worsened in the past few weeks and that has affected me a lot. The moment I realized that it was getting worse was when I couldn't even say the word "Simon" when I was talking about some records I had bought recently. I'm trying to improve as of late, but it's hard as fuck to get the motivation when it feels like all of the work I've spent over the years trying to fix the stutter was for nothing.
