Buthelezi apparently on life support, then out of ICU and back in ICU on friday. This article seems a bit outdated but mentions he is/was suffering from pneumonia on top of his other ailments. The most recent official update I've seen however said that he was improving. Thimmakka was still in ICU and on IV meds three days ago but it's been radio silence since. I think the spinal injury she suffered was more severe than they originally said. Anyways I think the drought won't last much longer. Most of the listers are already in 24/7 care and could die any day. Interesting how here the longest droughts and silent periods always seem to happen between the end of June and the start of September. For the DL May or June seems to be the usual quiet month from what I've seen and heard

Richard Williams died on this day 4 years ago, aged 86. - Williams was an animator whose love for the medium began when his mother took him to see Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs during its initial theatrical release. - Before entering animation, Williams drew advertisements and was a painter. - Williams' first film was The Little Island in 1958- a film about three people stuck on an island, with each one representing a virtue (truth, beauty, and goodness). - Williams founded his own animation studio in 1962, and would animate the title credit sequences for What's New Pussycat? and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. - Williams won the Oscar for Best Animated Short Film in 1972 for his animated adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. - Williams was the director of the 1977 Raggedy Ann and Andy movie, and in 1988 became the animation director for Disney's Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He would design the toon characters in the latter film. - Williams' magnum opus was The Thief and the Cobbler, a film known for its troubled production history. It began work in 1964, but was not released until 1993 in Australia and 1995 in the US- and the film had undergone severe studio meddling (examples included making some of the mute main characters have inner monologues, and making the movie a musical). Fans have attempted to collect things such as storyboards and animatics to remake Williams' original vision, dubbed "The Recobbled Cut": - Williams continued to produce animation until his death, and his 2015 short film Prologue would receive an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Short Film.

2 dead, 2 refuse to do more, Apted dead, a few already wavering. I have my doubts. I think the series lasted as long as it did because enough of them trusted Michael Apted to tell their story. You can't just replace decades of trust building. I expect most of them die off the radar in about 10-15 years. Ironically, one of the people convinced the Up series should go on until it charted all of their deaths was Nick Hitchon!

A few more as well. His daughter Nancy was there as was ex wife Mia. Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, Tony Bennett, Bob Newhart and Robert Wagner also all went.

I doubt his status as a DL alumnus had any bearing on his obitability tbh. We're surely not that influential! That's not what he meant. One of the criteria for being a DL pick is the person's death is likely to get a mention in the six o clock news.
