2 pointsGood news for all Doctor Who fans on here. After selling the episodes to die hard fans in every possible format the BBC have now created a Doctor Who zone on iPlayer where all the remaining classic episodes will be available alongside the spin off shows, the new series and documentaries and other DW related information. For those who are not fans you can watch the old episodes and play the Dead or Alive game with all those jobbing British bit part players

2 pointsAgreed. I've thought a bit in recent days about this suggestion that this is "Israel's 9/11" and then considered what America's 9/11 response achieved: a 20-year engagement in Afghanistan that resulted in the Taliban immediately re-emerging when US troops pulled out and a 10-year involvement in Iraq which saw the country wrecked and helped unleash ISIS. Hardly encouraging precedents for all-out war.

2 pointsAngela Lansbury died on this day a year ago, aged 96. - Lansbury was a nepo baby- her mother was the Irish actress Moyna Macgill. She was also cousins with stop-motion animator Oliver Postgate, a second cousin once removed of Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull, and sister-in-law of Peter Ustinov. - Lansbury's first film role was in 1944's Gaslight, and would be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for this. She then had a string of hits with National Velvet, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Harvey Girls. - In the 1960s, Lansbury was known for playing the mothers of leading actors- most notably as Eleanor in The Manchurian Candidate, and as Elvis' mom in Blue Hawaii. - Lansbury would largely act in theatrical productions, and is particularly remembered for her role as Mrs. Lovett in the original Broadway production of Sweeney Todd. - Lansbury would return to A-list celebrity status by starring as mystery writer turned crime scene detective Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote, which ran from 1984 to 1996. For this, Lansbury was nominated for ten Golden Globes (winning four) and 12 Emmys. - In her later career, Lansbury would be known for voice work in movies such as The Last Unicorn, Don Bluth's Anastasia, and most notably Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast- in the latter film, she sung its title song and a verse of "Be Our Guest": - Lansbury debuted on the DeathList in 2010, and was that list's last survivor. She returned to the list in 2020 and remained on the list until her death, and was the 10th death of the 14 that year. - Lansbury died five days before her 97th birthday, and her last role was released posthumously- a cameo in Glass Onion where she plays Among Us with Daniel Craig:

2 pointsIn August, Thurston Moore announced a book tour in support of his memoir, Sonic Life. The tour was set to begin later this month in the United States, but Moore has now canceled his dates in North America, citing “a longstanding health condition” that has “become rather, and consistently, debilitating.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/thurston-moore-cancels-book-tour-debilitating-health-condition-1234850501/

1 pointAs announced in the Twisted DL 2022-2023, I'm glad to host the Twisted Deathlist for a second year. For those of you who haven't participated in the first edition, here is a quick recap of the rules Rules : Make a list of 20 names + 3 subs who could die between 15th of October 2023 and 15th of October 2024. The one winning is the one with the most points at the end of the year, thus the most hits as one hit = one point. Every time a pick of your list dies, the first sub on your list of 3 replace the dead pick in his/her position and enters the official list of 20. Then, you’ll have to choose another celeb to take the n°3 spot on your sub list. The subs left will move up from one spot putting them a step closer to the official list. If a sub dies before being on the list, then notify it and choose another celeb to enter at spot nº3. Each subs left behind will move one spot up. You can choose similar celebrities as other participants. The only criteria for their admission as hit is a qualifying obit when they pass : a qualifying obit means an article from a respectable source in any country or language. In this case, "respectable" is voluntarily unclear to let a wide range of choice in your picks. Facebook post, insta post, death certificate or others like that doesn't count as qualifying obit. You can choose whoever you want as long as they're famous enough (which means they have articles about their action available online, wikipedias article about them, acknowledgment in their field…) Entries are now opened. Teams will be uncovered on the 15th of October when the competition begins. I'll check regularly to see if any hits occurred (besides the obvious pick) but, as there have been many teams last year and I don't have the time to check them all everytime, I'd strongly appreciate it if, from times to times, you can check your own list on the first page in case a hit went under the radar. Every time you have a hit, you just have to choose another celeb. I'll make sure to make a recap every week (or so) of every death and everyone's points. Feel free to tell me if I forget about your hit in your point ranking or anything like that. You can send me your list by pm or just post it here. For those of you who participated last year and want to keep the same list, just tell me and I'll move the lists here. Hope everything is clear, Good Luck !

1 pointMinor correction: Disneyland is in Anaheim, California, not Orlando. Disney World is in Orlando. But both places are pretty warm, so yeah understandable that someone his age wouldn’t be able to spend the whole day walking around.

1 pointThe last time the seat was Tory was 1992 - the Rabbi has stood for that seat previously and not won. The whole antisemitic issue within the Labour party is precisely the blame for the loss of the seat, and that absolutely includes Corbyn.
