6 pointsA sure fire pick for the Deathlist now has to be Ian Smith AKA Harold bloody Bishop. Terminal lung cancer, and its one of the rarest and worst prognosis lung cancers too. A gimme for the DL and Drop 40 imo. Sad though as I really liked Harold as a kid. Actor Ian Smith, best known as Neighbours’ Harold Bishop, reveals terminal cancer diagnosis | Neighbours | The Guardian

5 pointsIsn't there a thing called palliative lying, where it's considered kinder to simply tell the person that their deceased loved one will be "back shortly" etc, and divert their attention to a different topic? I think it's far kinder to let people in the stages of advanced dementia think they're alive than force them to go through the same sadness over and over again.

4 pointsDoubt it. Americans don’t typically vote in the same party for 12 years running. Also, voters tend to have short term memories.

4 pointsAmerican singer Steve Alaimo (Wiki) reported dead at 84, some days shy of his 85th birthday. FB tributes here, here and here He had nine singles chart in the Billboard Hot 100 without once reaching the Top 40 in his career, the most by any artist.

4 pointsPerhaps rather than trying to shut people like Brad down because he doesn’t share your worldly view, you should tell us why Hunter deserves a pardon. Or indeed maybe a talking point for the Americans should be *why* their head of state should even be allowed to have such a powerful function that overrides the natural process of the justice system in the first place.** **At the political rants and discussions thread ofc – none of this is particularly relevant to Sleepy Joe’s health and thus off topic here.

3 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #15 Dave Blunts Bored of Picking Octagenarians,Cancer Patients and Immortals who frequent hospitals but seem to never die? For a change of pace why not pick a 500 Pound Rapper who requires an Oxygen Tank and might be a double chunk chocolate cookie away from meeting The Reaper.

2 pointsThis very nice looking Japanese vodka would have been great if I’d only looked at it, unfortunately it tasted of sadness and disappointment. I got through though, I’m not a quitter.

2 pointsOne of Dubbya's final pardons was for hip-hop producer John Forte, who was behind the worst single of 1998 and possibly one of the 50 worst songs ever recorded: (he was in prison for coke-dealing rather than somehow capturing the worst excesses of shiny suit rap into four minutes)

2 pointsWould you like to challenge me to go through the whole deep purple discography? I recently downloaded their album "whoosh" and loved every bit of it

2 pointsJoe Biden has now pardoned his son Hunter. Quite possibly his dumbest ever decision, having now shattered any positive legacy he may have had left, and vindicated Trump and MAGA linking the two of them together.

2 pointsVarious twitter reports that Terry Griffiths has died. I'll try and get links in due course.

2 pointsGunnel Stenbäck, oldest in Finland and former head of the Helsinki Deaconess Foundation dead at 110. Oldest in Finland now I believe is Arvi Hämäläinen, born in January 1917. Quite a drop. I mentioned Hämäläinen here some months ago, he's a (very slightly) locally notable costume designer and has had multiple hospitalisations since 2021.

2 pointsSilvia Pinal (1931-2024) "She is perfectly fine, not even hospitalised" (Family denial, level 1) "Ok, she was in hospital, but is much better now" (Family denial, level 2) "Ok, she is still in hospital, but out of ICU" (Family denial, level 3) "Ok, she is still in ICU, just needs a little supplementary oxygen" (Family denial, level 4) "Ok, she's dead, but one day even Jimmy Carter will die!!!" (Highest possible level of denial) Age at death: 93 Known health issues: Wheelchair bound for years, hospitalised in ICU with heart disease and COVID in December 2021, hospitalised in ICU wuth aspiration pneumonia in December 2022, hospitalised in ICU in December 2023, hospitalised in March 2024, hospitalised in ICU in November 2024. Cause of death: Dead? No, no, by now she has surely been discharged. Alignment: One of the greatest actresses of Mexican cinema and very beautiful in her prime. Melted into a wax statue in her later years. Also had a political stint as senator, and fought for civil rights in the 80s.

1 pointYou read that right. 30 years of the DDP. A mighty milestone few could've envisioned when it was a local 90s affair that had its own trophy. 2024, despite an overall hits tally on track to break the record, felt fairly arid on the headliner and competitive fronts, perhaps portending a mighty 2025 enema. Whatever happens, @time, @Banana and I are once again here to guide you through it... Dear Jimmy - either die in the next week, or go all the way to- wait, I wrote this before... THE RULES are near exactly what they were last time, with the only edits done being updating all instances of 2023/2024 to 2024/2025, and changing The Times' URL from .co.uk to .com. IMPORTANT REMINDER: The spreadsheet method of entry that began in 2021 remains in service. The 2025 spreadsheet, identical to the 2024 one in all but filename, can be found here. It is heavily recommended to use the spreadsheet as means of entry to reduce Banana's workload as much as possible. If you are absolutely unable to work with the Excel spreadsheet, still make sure to recheck GUN's DDP entry guide thread from 2020 to make the formatting of your email as smooth as possible.

1 pointSophie Kinsella is a best-selling novelist in UK and makes the American book charts as well. Her books were made into a movie. She meets the fame criteria. Even my mom was texting me about her diagnosis.

1 pointGodot mate, you've not seen confusion, massed queues for presents and people rushing madly from place to place until you've seen Father's Day in West Cumbria.
