Updated after Leslie Phillips' death. I was surprised to discover that Leslie wasn't even the oldest person on this list: Vincent Ball is, and he is still living.

How come Frankie Fraser's never on the TV any more? He was never off the bloody thing in the late 90s. Is there some, like, Sky 3 or Bravo documentary series he hosts now, or is he just dying in a home alone and unloved somewhere? People who I crossed off my DDP team for this year at the last minute: "cancer stricken" Glaswegian crimelord Jamie Daniel, because I have absolutely no idea about Scottish crime whatsoever and for all I know these guys could just be having a laugh and a carry on with bored local crime reporters. Most of the current capi of the American Mafia are in their 70s and unlikely to be shot any time soon. On the other hand, Venero "Benny Eggs" Mangano turns 90 this year, having spent 15 of the past 18 years in prison for his part in an extortion racket that saw the Mafia make $2 for every window replaced in New York for five years.

You may have heard in the news today that Kleenex ( MK and Deathsperms favourite tissue ) has now, after 60 years, decided to remove the term 'Mansize' on it's boxes as one little boy asked his mummy if that meant boys, girls and ladies could not use them. This, of course, had the Twitter brigade out to castigate the company for having such a sexist term in these times of ours, or summat. Add to that the 'Jazz Hands' replacement for applause at Manchester University and a whole shit load of other things, I was wondering if we can get up some sort of list/ suggestions that would truly placate the current generation? How about a demand that Manchester be renamed Peoplechester? Being manly? How about Personly? Wankers

On this day 70 years ago in 1952,american actress, singer and dancer Dixie Lee ,died aged 42 of ovarian cancer. She was the first wife of Bing Crosby and it is said that she initially tempered his problem drinking which in part arose from being a Hollywood it couple constantly invited to parties and social events. Latterly however it is said Dixie is the one who developed a more serious alcohol addiction problem. No surprise that this dynamic created problems within the marriage and strong rumours that Bing was at times on the verge of asking for a divorce. Her speciality was singing and dance and a number of films she starred in seemed to reflect that. Manhattan Love Song (1934)and Love in Bloom(1935) are some of Dixies film credits.
