dimreaper 897 Posted yesterday at 16:03 I notice Tim Bilton finally dropped from the drop 40.
msc 18,736 Posted yesterday at 16:03 Diego - our very own Diego? - actually picked Lynda Chalker! Fewer crossovers with Ncuti Bang Bang this time, though I need to remember to discuss authors with Biblio in December by the looks of things. Oops. I see the nefarious Pelican has a unique with Emma Heatherington too. Raul Malo is also unique, I nearly picked him on the basis he looked like shit 30 years ago when he had his one hit wonder, let alone now he's got cancer! drunkasaskunk 226 Posted yesterday at 16:03 8 minutes ago, Perhaps said: The beasts of this pool have such an impressive array of differing picks this year. It's quite evident that I haven't had enough time to dig out the terminally ill that were concealed from the main forum! Makes me feel silly for excluding Georg Koch and Ludek Miklosko, the latter wasn't on my radar until it was too late which will be a sting for me if they become hits. My main team has two uniques, Richard Dunn, a dementia ridden boxer, and Steve Mortimer who seems to be collecting ailments like they're Pokémon (dementia, pneumonia, heart attack) and is now in a carehome. My hope relies on them and the massive collection of D40 picks I picked this year, and Joe Doering pulling through as my joker. I fear I will be Tammy Slaton'd with Dave Blunts. I won't be picking heavy people again. The thing is, with only 1 point of a difference between a unique and a drop 40 it kind of encourages aiming for the low hanging fruit. That said, there are always (literally) hundreds of uniques picks each year.
Toast 16,388 Posted yesterday at 16:04 Double entry - Andrew Ranken is also listed as Andy Ranken, so I'm afraid two teams are going to be disappointed that he's not a unique.

Awdry is a mea culpa but Lynley Dodd is sods law. Surprised two names on my shortlist - Johnny Rep and Alfio Basile - weren't picked at all.

Captain Hemlock 804 Posted yesterday at 17:14 My lists look good. More uniques than I thought I would get on the Rigor Mort Us team.
Toast 16,388 Posted yesterday at 17:26 I'm surprised Meghan Markle is a unique pick. She's on my theme team Wishful Thinking. j/k, it's people with alliterative names.
arghton 7,138 Posted yesterday at 17:35 My teams here are "The Marvelous Pneumonia Squad" and theme team "militant leaders". TMPS has a few good picks, a few bad ones and a few random ones. There's Jayapataka, the Chernobyl chief engineer, a guy I've seen multiple times and that guy I've had email conversations with. I couldn't resist adding them. Militant leaders (probably a pain in the ass for the organizers) had some shite pun as its original name that doesn't seem to have survived (maybe that's for the better?) Dying Probably 667 Posted yesterday at 17:36 Biden + Trump sure are surprising Drop 40 members. Main team has 3 uniques - not many, but still more than I was expecting, honestly. Micunovic, Sinclair, and Mori are all decent picks but not the greatest (Mori I just refuse to remove on principle) OAPs has 6 uniques, the 4 I expected (Benson, Butler, Harbison, Waggoner) and 2 that aren't too surprising (Roberts, Sensenbrenner). DPTP has 13 uniques - jeez, more than one team submitted Carpenter, Harris and Swift?

Death Impends 8,404 Posted yesterday at 18:12 Added misses, and picks who've yet to obit, to the front page. I have the LotM page saved as a draft but haven't published yet. Probably all I'll be doing for today as my work hours are late.

So if you want to check your teams or who made the Drop 40, you can. Brilliant work as always all. Only looked at Drop 40 currently and I'll add to the list of those surprised Koch is Drop 40. Never considered that likely, otherwise I would done a free transfer from theme team to main. Also surprised about Nigel McCrery. Terminally ill, yes, but it could be Parkinson's, cancer.. anything. Grimgrass 585 Posted yesterday at 19:46 Just noticed Giorgio Armani isn't picked. Must be the first time in years DL has a name that isn't a DDP pick.
Summer in Transylvania 2,451 Posted yesterday at 20:21 Jack Thompson, the joker for my theme team Apology Accepted, should be the Australian actor, not the American lawyer listed on the site.
DoltonMoney 347 Posted yesterday at 20:39 Quite pleasantly surprised that Thomas Sowell is a unique. He seems like the kind of guy who'll obit with no problem.
Octopus of Odstock 2,270 Posted yesterday at 20:47 Just noticed that the two Geoff Boycotts need to be merged. I did initially think that it was a surprisingly low amount of picks. But still not enough picks to put him in drop 40.
