3 pointsLiving to 150 would be a disaster. I don’t have children so clearly I’ve shown a total disregard for the environment simply because I don’t give a fuck about your kids or grandkids. If I lived to 150 I’d have to live in whatever ecological disaster I’d helped to create and I didn’t sign up for that!

2 pointsThe ANZAC List belatedly makes a return. Thanks to all those that contributed to the list. I put this together on Friday,, but have been out and only got round to posting today. In the meantime, Mike Moore died this morning so that's theoretically a first hit. If anyone is concerned about the fact I haven't posted the list before he's scuttled off this mortal coil, then I'll bring in a sub, but he was a returner from last year and I've picked him for DDP teams for a number of years. 25 people return from last year (last year's position in Brackets) and 25 newbies on the list. David Gulpilil takes the #1 slot, but the majority of the list was pretty volatile. 1. David Gulpilil (b. 1 Jul 1953, Arnhem Land) Australian 2. Elizabeth Chong (b. 27 May 1931, Canton) Australian 3. 1 pointRight now (and being succinct) the evidence is basically: humans can live to their 80s with good health and good luck, to their 90s with incredibly good health and good luck, and some make it past their 100s with incredibly good health AND incredibly good luck! That Calment remains such an outlier sort of suggests 125 isn't forseeable, let alone 150... Not that I'm not rooting for Kane Tanaka to break all the records.

1 pointA handful of fringe scientists say this NOT scientists in general. Most scientists in the area of medical research do not go along with these bold claims which are frankly unscientific. Ie bullshit.
-
1 pointThis is an unsubstantiated claim, basically hype.It also ignores the concept of a natural plateau. One does not need to be a luddite to be sceptical of such grand scientific claims.Infact I think most scientists even in the medical research field would be the most sceptical and critical of these kind of claims about huge future longevity.

1 pointI'm 22, and I've known who Python and Terry Jones are since at least my adolesence. I am pretty sure the vast majority of under 30s in the UK could tell you who they are.
-
1 pointIndeed they did!I remember really looking forward to her 2002 return and enjoying her verbal spats with ex friend Rita and then it just all fell apart she couldn't handle the increased workload.

1 pointUK oldsters may remember a name from the past, Mavis Nicholson. She was pretty well known back in the late 70s/80s as an interviewer of the stars and, IIRC, she had her own TV show. Well she is still going and is 89. One to watch.

1 pointYou can't really. You can prove that a person was not famous to, say, America, but that does not mean that they were not famous elsewhere. Kim il Sum a Luvin, the star of ' Let our Glorious Leader Conquer the World' may well be famous in North Korea but, outside of Asia, we would not have a clue who they were, if you get my drift. This whole thread is a bit bullshit really. It's all subjective twaddle. PS: If this makes no fucking sense it is because I am on the Bacardi.

1 pointI’m driving home 820 miles - presently having been awake 26 hours and 300 miles to go (ugh) I promise will do on the morrow thanks for reminder! Edit: lol I’m not that slow a driver. I worked 16 hours, packed my stuff in 90 minutes and been driving since

1 pointI find that incredible. At 30 I had heard of Flanagan and Allen, Tommy Trinder, Jimmy Hanley, Harry Lauder, Marie Lloyd and a shit ton of other famous British entertainers, many long dead before I entered the world. That doesn't make me super clever, just more aware. Do 30 year olds really live in a fucking bubble? God help us.

1 pointThere are now 50 people verified to have reached the age of 115 with Shigeyo Nakachi's birthday today. EDIT: Only 3 of which were male, if you were curious.

1 pointThat is not nearly widely accepted. Her age is verified by the GWR and the GRG. There is only a russian conspiracy theory without any piece of evidence.
