I really like the Art Déco Style, especially the style of Tamara de Lempicka.

Relativity by M. C. Escher: Can't lie that I'm not equipped to understand most visual art. Maths passed off as art, like this, is more up my street. There's no kind of emotional provocation in this picture. All it asks of you is to decide which way is 'up'.

Dali's Christ Of St John Of The Cross. Unless you've actually stood in front of it, you can't explain how breathtaking it is, even if it's somewhat iconographic. If you are ever lucky enough to have the chance to see it in person, do.

Post your favourite paintings or works of art here. Or any that you think are striking, or have an interesting story. Starting with Gas by Edward Hopper. A simple but slightly unnerving scene that could be in a Stephen King story.

A guy I raced with lost his right leg at the Cookstown 100 road race some years ago, as the paramedics were loading him into the ambulance one said he would loose the leg and that was the end of his racing. His answer was allong the lines of "it's only my right, I'll get a thumb operated rear brake fitted to the bike", he did and still races. He has a leg for walking about on and a racing leg!

I love Brian Blessed, his book is full of little stories like this - my favourite is when he tells of punching Harold Pinter down some stairs.

Paulette Wilson a Windrush campaigner who faced deportation, has died. She was 64. Wilson had come to the UK from Jamaica in 1968, but her benefits were cut off in 2015. The Windrush scandal broke in 2018, when it emerged many children of Commonwealth citizens had been threatened with deportation. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-53521408

Well if this is the way the thread has gone, I'll bring up my all time fave TV talking head bit as I don't think Gooseberry has heard it. Right, so Judi Dench has turned 70, and Channel 4 or 5 or someone I forget had this big 2 hour celebration of Judi Dench documentary on. And they had all these luvvies talking up her braveness as a performer, and her gravitas and all that stuff. Suddenly on screen appears Brian Blessed who booms: "Judi Dench is the SEXIEST WOMAN I'VE EVER MET! And she stills drives me WILD WITH LUST! What a woman!"

I have and I stood in front of it for about 15 minutes whilst Mrs GUN wandered round looking at old pots and stuff that she would never remember beyond the afternoon - I couldn't understand why anyone was looking at anything else there apart from this painting (but I was pleased they were).

I'm quite fond of Frans Hals' portraits; here's a painting of a bloke holding a skull.

Yeah BIG respect to Lardy - amazed she snagged him as a unique pick but then I got Larry Wallis as a unique last year despite his poor health being public knowledge.

Broken humerus Sunday - surgery Tuesday - passed fit to ride Thursday - the man’s a fucking machine. Additionally, two other riders who suffered injury on Sunday, Alex Rins (broken shoulder) and Cal Crutchlow (broken wrist) also had surgery Tuesday and passed fit today - I don’t think they’ll ride this Sunday but I’m putting a fiver on MM. These fucking pussy footballers can all get to fuck, rolling around crying on the floor when they’ve broken their hair.

He walked down them steps more steadily than I could, genuinely, and all I’ve got is a titanium shin that’s nowhere near 90 years old, bravo old man!

For folks wondering, I've been keeping track of the hits but there's so much work to be done, and it only increases with the new hits. When I catch up with the scoring there will be an update, but we'll need to have a talk about the future of this deadpool. It's a fun game but not so fun on the data entry side of things.
