Sad to see Dave has gone - unsung hero and cool guy. He drummed for them for 4/5ths of his longish life, and sang lead on many of their hits - including the first song I ever remember liking, aged 4 in 1969, still a fab piece of Beatles-influenced bubblegum-psych: Naturally, it only reached #2.

I said he had some live prospects to take the lead, and he's only bloody gone and hit one! Etushispushingupdaisies is one of 4 players to successfully predict the late demise of Tabare Vasquez, and so takes the lead with a new record of 3033 points. The other three to hit The Unknown Man, Nantonian2013, and Jiromeonkiruma were all among the leaders, and all move up into the top 5. All are within 2 hits of the leader and have plenty of picks left (Nantonian has somehow hit 2524 points from only 10 hits), so Etush will not be putting the champagne on ice quite yet. A new leader definitely deserves a new leaderboard, so here it is: Etushispushingupdaisies (3033 points) 16 hits [Alex Trebek, Armen D., Bob Gibson Cullan Brown, Daniel Arap Moi, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Jay Allen, John Andretti, Lee Kerslake Kirk Douglas, Pat Smullen, Roger Scruton, Tabare Vasquez, Terry Jones, Vasily Kulkov] Grim Up North (2888 points) 17 hits [Alex Trebek, Chris Doleman, David Hagen, Dennis Goldberg, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Howard Finkel, John Andretti, Judy Dyble, Kirk Douglas, Lee Kerslake ,Liz Clarke-Saul, Nobby Stiles, Pat Smullen, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stirling Moss, Vera Lynn] JiromeonKiruma (2723 points) 13 hits [Alex Trebek, Bob Gibson, Boris Klyuyev, Chitetsu Wantabe, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Joseph Hanneschlager, Judy Dyble, Michael Gauthier, John Lewis, Lone Dybkjaer Steve Blackmore, Tabare Vasquez] The Unknown Man (2550 points) 15 hits [Alex Trebek, Chris Doleman, Daniel Arap Moi, Everton Weekes, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Javier Perez de Cuellar, John Andretti, Kirk Douglas, Lee Kerslake, Nobby Stiles, Olivia de Haviland, Sam Lloyd, Tabare Vasquez, Terry Jones] Nantonian2013 (2524 points) 10 hits [Alex Trebek, Everton Weekes, John Hume, Kamala, Little Richard, Nobby Stiles, Roberta McCain, Roger Scruton, Sumner Redstone, Tabare Vasquez] CaptainChorizo (2355 points) 17 Hits [Alex Trebek, Bernard Ebbers, Bernhard Pinera, Bob Weighton, Chitetsu Wantabe , Dennis Goldberg, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Hugh Downs, John Lewis, Johnny Harris, Lee Kerslake, Raymond Allen, Roger Scruton, Terry Jones, Toby Dawson,Tom Belso] An Fear Beag (2307 points) 13 hits [Alex Trebek, Bob Gibson, Bob Weighton, Chris Doleman, Daniel Arap Moi, David Hagen, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, John Lewis, Kirk Douglas, Pat Smullen, Roberta MCCain, Terry Jones] drol (2293 points) 14 hits [Alex Trebek, Bob Gibson, Daniel Arap Moi, David Hagen, Dennis Goldberg, Genesis P-Orridge, John Andretti, Lee Kerslake, Majek Fashek, Qaboos of Oman, Pat Smullen, Roger Scruton, Shin-Kyuk-ho, Sumner Redstone] John Key (2279 points) 13 hits [Alex Trebek, Bob Gibson, Chris Doleman, Frankie Benali, Genesis P-Orridge, Henry Gray, John Andretti, Kirk Douglas, Lee Kerslake, Qaboos of Oman, Roberta McCain, Ruth Bader Ginsburg , Sam Lloyd] Prophet (2272 points) 12 hits [Alex Trebek, Bob Gibson, Daniel Arap Moi, Frankie Benali, John Andretti, Kirk Douglas, Lee Kerslake, Nobby Stiles, Olivi De Haviland. Businesswoman Catherine Wines, founder of World Remit, died last month of pancreatic cancer: https://www.pancreaticcancer.org.uk/news-and-blogs/catherine-wines/ I thought she was a secret on my list, but she was actually picked in the DDP by the mysterious team Pelican in the Wilderness. The obit chances might depend on the Financial Times remembering their article of last year: https://www.ft.com/content/57cbc8da-f3eb-11e9-a79c-bc9acae3b654

So, he does have a thread, but it hasn't been activated since 2006. Probably worth blowing the dust off, as he's more likely to enter our sphere of interest in the next few years. Popped up on Strictly tonight (Bill Bailey was dancing to Phantom and he wished him good luck) and he looked...old. Nothing more, nothing less. Spoke slowly, didn't sound like he really watched Strictly, despite his claims to the otherwise but otherwise looked in decent enough health. He's 79 now and spoke about having ME in 2011. According to this BBC article he popped up at the 30th Anniversary of Phantom in the encore in 2016, hurrying over from starring in his own musical 'The Go-Between'. That same year, he did a ludicrously ambitious recreation of Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em for Sport Relief (doing his own stunts as per) so he was still in pretty good fettle then. But as far as Wiki's concerned, he hasn't starred in anything on the West End since. Anyway, having seen him and having discovered he has a thread, I thought it didn't hurt to bump him up in people's consciousnesses. Don't think he's in immediate danger though.

Long live the Queen! (Women have a higher life expectancy and she seems to be doing well enough for her age).

Yeah if this works it'll cut the entry time per team down by...about 80% or so.

FOR THOSE THAT HAVE NOT ALREADY ENTERED THE 2021 DDP I HAVE JUST EMAILED OUT AN EXCEL SPREADSHEET WHICH CAN BE USED AND HAS BEEN TESTED TO EASE THE PROCESS. I've amended the advice in the second post of this thread to take account of that. For anyone reading this who wants to enter this year and is happy to do so by excel but has not received the email with the excel form attached if you PM me with your email address I will send you the form. Cheers, GUN

Anyway that's not incredible ! I don't understand people who are crazy about having 18 out of 50 deaths this year : those 50 people are celebrities that are on the edge (some of whom are on the edge for years now) so 18 deaths out of these 50 is great, but when I first came on this site, I was quite surprised and disappointed to see that the score didn't ever pass 25/50

I mean, he is the oldest. Cleese looks to me as he has done for years, maybe his voice is getting slightly more gravelly. His mother lived to 101 though, so I reckon he's got a few years left before he dies, departs, ceases to be, shuffles off this mortal coil, etc.

Personally as someone who properly started Dr Who with Ecclestone in 2005 and watched every episode since, I rate Jodie quite good. Maybe it is because I watch Dr Who reaction Youtube channels so I can watch the episode over and over again while it is reacted to by others and see how they feel about it. The last series brought back The Master and gave us Ruth!Doctor and Jack Harkness. It was much better than Jodie's first episode run. Much like how Peter Capaldi's first series wasn't as good in my opinion. Series 8 was Capaldi's weakest but Series 9 was amazing. Maybe this is why I don't like 9th Doctor - because it always takes me a series to get used to a new Doctor. I am excited for NYD special and for what the future holds.

I'm not sure about people aged 95+ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Lawson_(British_Army_officer) But Richard Lawson, GOC in Northern Ireland during the Troubles is going to be 94 and he and Kitson are the only Generals born in the 1920s left, I think From the USA, Harry E. Goldsworthy (born 1914, 106) is probably the oldest Lt.Gen alive Also, Lt.Gen William Carr, called the "father of modern Canadian Air Force" is still alive and 97 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Keir_Carr
