I am reliably informed that in the interest of fairness, if I am to accept PM entries, I should either post up my own team here or send it to someone so that I cannot be accused of stealing other peoples picks. I'm not sure that stealing picks is of much benefit in this pool, but I like to stick to forum etiquette. So I have sent my team to Deathray via email, and also sent it by PM to Great Uncle Bulgaria.

I would certainly worry if my relatives suddenly started wanting to visit me as they never have before, time to raise the drawbridge, I want to spend all the money that I have left before I go.

For those who haven’t entered yet, this is your timely 185 hour warning. For the 30 brilliant bastards that have, reading this post was a waste of your time and I can only apologise.

On Page 1 I made a crack about this being a long term appointment. If Francis lives to January 24th (and I assume he will unless Gooseberry's got Christmas plans...) he'll overtake Benedict's reign in days! This doesn't get either in even the top 50 longest reigning Popes, although Francis is currently the 14th oldest Pope to ever live, and Benny the "second oldest" (ie actual oldest). I say 2nd, they consider Pope Agatho the longest lived at 104, despite the fact no records exist of the guys life until he became Pope in the 670s. As believable as those 150 year old claimants who show up...

Hmm Philbin didn't have a career in film though according to this. Just appeared as himself in cameos, which doesn't count. Alex Trebek was included because he hosted TCM ceremonies over many years.

If the run rate stays the same as it is for the next couple of days, he is more likely to die of boredom. At least Jim Maxwell has had no more medical problems since his stroke a few years ago. Both sound well.

Yes, she did come to mind. However, would she pass the famousness test? I doubt if she’s well known in the UK but if Jerry Stiller made it, Estelle should make it.

On the morning of Friday, November 27, 2020, U.S. Olympic champion sailor Kevin Burnham (born – 1956; Queens, N.Y.) passed away after a long, courageous battle with pulmonary disease. Burnham is a three-time Olympic sailor and a two-time Olympic medalist for Team USA. He won the gold medal with Paul Foerster in 2004 and a silver medal with Morgan Reeser in 1992. Burnham and Foerster were named Rolex Yachtsman of the Year for their gold medal performance. Burnham also won a gold medal at the 1986 Goodwill Games. SCunto

I know this sounds wierd, but I never thought of the voice of KITT as being an actor, I kinda thought it was the car really talking for some reason.

tbh there is a whole segment on Julie Goodyear in the documentary but no her, as Crem and co mentioned. However, OK magazine said she recorded for a different documentary entirely: Queens of the Street. Which I cba sitting through but which imdb claims she missed too after being announced for it. Read as much or as little into that as you'd like!

Well, like I said, for us in the northern hemisphere it's really about the winter solstice and celebrating the start of longer daylight hours. Which is nice but people attach far too much importance to the crap that goes with it now. It was a mistake to encourage the idea that it's a special time when families get together. That should have been squashed at the start, and people encouraged to aim for a spring reunion instead.

Ernest Nee (or Nii) Pobee Sowah. Also travelled a lot between the UK (Liverpool and London) and Takoradi in Ghana. Married Elsie Mabel Atta Djabanor (b. 1924) in Westminster, London in 1951. They had a residence in Willesden East, London in 1954. Can't find any trace of them after that. Must have returned to Ghana. Could be alive I suppose.

Apparently the BBC prepared a draft of his obituary way back in 2005.

On balance, I would leave him off the 2021 list. The fact he's lasted 8 years in his current state indicates that he is in a relatively stable condition. Yes there's a decent chance he could die next year but I would say there's far more chance of someone with stage 3 or 4 cancer or MND passing away. He could potentially live for another 20 or even 30 years like this.

Here’s me hoping that someone could take over the cup during the last few weeks of the year. If no one does take over the cup in the next few weeks then I guess I could host another year (though 2021 would definitely be my last year as host). I’m just bringing this up again as I don’t think anyone wants this great pool to die.

His 2012 death report was a hoax - many obscure silent film actors were reported dead via Wiki hoaxes around that time period. However usually it was for people that died decades before (perhaps most infamously Pola Illery - died 1993, but a 2012 hoax led to a Telegraph obituary and a DDP hit!), whereas Davis was still alive and well. And he is definitely dead; the account that updated for his death was the same account that reported his 2012 "death" was a hoax to begin with! Wiki just requires a news source to report on his death before his page can be properly updated, is all. While I'm here, I'll also note that Don Marion Davis was the second actor to live to see the centennial of their film debut, after Fay McKenzie.
