5 pointsYeah, my first go at a team to win the DDP, subtitled The Gary Burgesses and consisting of 20 identical picks, was frowned upon for some reason by the Cmme.

4 pointsWe're officially up. The sidebars are updated, 2021 in the archives, and a little introductory post by me ahead of the actual obits. Plenty of work to go - but we're open.

3 pointsWonderful work, DI, Reptile, Grim. Incredible effort to keep the site running smoothly. Genuine end of an era stuff to see Mr C bow out after 21+ years. The Man in Black back in play! That makes it 7 current or former DDP hosts playing this year, which must surely be a record! Also with Spade, the Deathlist, Skunk, JoeRam, Reptile, DI, Dr T, OoO, Salmon Mousse and DDT playing, we have 10 former DDP champions in the 2022 game, shattering the previous record of 7 in one year. Which I think is cool.

2 pointsOk one constructive post while I'm here .... any Corrie geek knows the show was originally commissioned for just 13 episodes, which is quite astonishing given it's now on 10,535 and counting and surely not a million years from it's 13,000th episode. 2 pointsHappy Death Impends-Sliding-Into-My-DMs Day to all who celebrate. Commiserations first to Sidney Poitier, Gary Burgess, and Jana Bennett – all of whom were in this year's top 50 Derby Dead Pool names, but expired before the Inverse Dead Pool starting line. Let's have a line break of silence in their honour. Thank you. The top 50, once those three are removed, are as follows: George Alagiah Jimmy Carter Linda Nolan Shannen Doherty Pele Tom Parker Bill Turnbull James Whale Frank Field Queen Elizabeth II Tom Smith Olivia Newton-John Leslie Phillips Dick Van Dyke Henry Kissinger Pope Benedict XVI Prunella Scales Angela Lansbury Doddie Weir Bob Barker George Perez Jerry Lee Lewis Rob Burrow Billy Connolly Mikhail Gorbachev Yoko Ono Jean-Louis Trintignant Tony Bennett Rolf Harris Tom Weiskopf Tim Bilton Ghislaine Maxwell Susie Steiner Bobby Charlton Shane MacGowan Russell Bishop June Brown Milos Zeman David Attenborough Mel Brooks Phil Collins Clint Eastwood Harry Belafonte Rupert Murdoch Joe Exotic Donald Trump Joanne Woodward Francoise Hardy Paul Gascoigne Willie Nelson 51. Eva Marie Saint (can only be picked as a substitute) Those are your 50 possible choices. Select and rank 25 of those names to survive 2022, and post your teams in this thread. Submissions are now open. The deadline to submit a team is Sunday, January 23, 23.59 (GMT) – 1 week (and 50 minutes) from now.

2 pointsTHE 50 ELIGIBLE PICKS: George Alagiah Jimmy Carter Linda Nolan Shannen Doherty Pele Tom Parker Bill Turnbull James Whale Frank Field Queen Elizabeth II Tom Smith Olivia Newton-John Leslie Phillips Dick Van Dyke Henry Kissinger Pope Benedict XVI Prunella Scales Angela Lansbury Doddie Weir Bob Barker George Perez Jerry Lee Lewis Rob Burrow Billy Connolly Mikhail Gorbachev Yoko Ono Jean-Louis Trintignant Tony Bennett Rolf Harris Tom Weiskopf Tim Bilton Ghislaine Maxwell Susie Steiner Bobby Charlton Shane MacGowan Russell Bishop June Brown Milos Zeman David Attenborough Mel Brooks Phil Collins Clint Eastwood Harry Belafonte Rupert Murdoch Joe Exotic Donald Trump Joanne Woodward Francoise Hardy Paul Gascoigne Willie Nelson Eva Marie Saint = 51. Bill Cosby (can only be picked as a substitute) = 51. Bernard Cribbins (can only be picked as a substitute) = 51. Deborah James (can only be picked as a substitute) = 51. Nichelle Nichols (can only be picked as a substitute) = 51. Ozzy Osbourne (can only be picked as a substitute) List edited January 21 to account for Russell Bishop dying during the submission period. Obviously, he is no longer an eligible pick. Eva Marie Saint, formerly only pickable as a substitute, is now eligible to appear on your main teams. Any one of the 5 new names tied at #51 can now be picked as your substitute. Submissions are now open (as of January 16). Deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 23, 23.59 (GMT).

1 pointINVERSE DEAD POOL 2022 Welcome to the 11th edition of the Inverse Dead Pool, the nice dead pool where you don't want your picks to die. How to play The game starts when I post a list of this year's 50 most popular Derby Dead Pool picks. From this list of 50, you must pick 25 people who you think will SURVIVE the year. The premise is to AVOID picking people who will die. Rank your picks – from least likely to die to most likely to die. You receive points according to their position on your team – 25 points if your #1 pick dies, 24 points if your #2 pick dies, and so on, down to 1 point if your #25 pick dies, and 0 points if anyone you haven't picked dies. You do NOT want points. The winner is the player with the fewest points at the end of the year (Dec 31, 23.59 GMT). You may also pick a 26th name as a substitute, in case one of your picks dies before the submission deadline. If that happens, everyone in a lower position on your team moves up a place, and your substitute is drafted in at #25. If any picks die during the submission period, then the 51st most popular name (which I'll reveal alongside the top 50) becomes an eligible pick. This means the 51st name can be your substitute, but can't initially be on your main team. Once you have a team ready, post it in this thread. If you amend your team after posting it (you may want to do this if, for example, the 51st name was your substitute, they've come into play, and you want to rank them somewhere other than the default #25), then please post again in this thread to clarify what you've changed. You may not amend your team after the submission deadline. Tie break details If two or more players are tied at the end of the year, the winner is the player with the fewest hits. If all tied players have an equal amount of hits, then the winner is whichever of these tied players had the fewest points most recently (i.e. whoever had the most recent pick to die, whoever ranked that pick lower if all tied players picked them, whoever had the second most recent pick to die if those are the same, etc). If all tied players have the exact same hits in the exact same positions (or if they achieve a heretofore-unachieved perfect score of 0), the tie is not broken – all tied players share victory. 1 pointIt's wrong - well spotted. The team have incorrectly included him twice in their entry but normally this would be highlighted by the conditional formatting in the spreadsheet which highlights duplicates. For the cells of this entry the conditional formatting is not in place (I know not why) so this has not been highlighted and therefore missed. @gcreptile one Duane Eddy needs removed from this team and replaced by Brue Channel the first sub. I'm not going to go through all the teams checking the formatting is working and for duplicates missed because I know it was in place for a lot of teams where duplicates did exist and the teams are up live now anyway so duplicates will be highlighted in the same way YW has picked up Duane Eddy.

1 pointWell, it is more bad news for the Lowther family. Bear with. The title was inherited by the 8th Earl's half brother William James Lowther from the 7th Earl's second marriage. Another half brother from the 7th Earl's third marriage is next in line to succeed (I believe the 9th Earl has no heirs), that is James Nicholas Lowther. Now it transpires that James' third child but eldest son Will has committed suicide, aged 21: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10409179/Earl-Lonsdale-heir-pays-tribute-artist-son-death-aged-21.html Tortuous to work out, but if you look up the peerage pages it all kind of works out.

1 pointOk hang on. I even checked the bloody spreadsheet and did ctrl F to make sure they were not picked. Schirin Ebadi, Paul Robert Milgrom should be good. I nearly got bitter and attempted to kill Obama but thought against it.

1 pointMUCH respect to get this operational so soon given the tonnage of work. Surprised that Clare Marx is so little fancied and reassured that she's OoO's joker (he tends to be astute), also a little surprised to have the head of ISIS as a unique. Onwards and, maybe, upwards, then

1 pointI asked this question a few years back. Annoyingly, I used to have a link to his full library of photographs, with the list of subjects, but I lost it. Must surely be online somewhere. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe a couple of dozen subjects survive. Leontyne Price, Marilyn Horne and Harry Belafonte being several such examples.

1 pointThere’s a good thread running on the Crossroads fan site on Facebook about actors still alive and some telling comments. Jane Rossington (Jill) is in very poor health aged 78. David Lawton (Chef Mr Booth) is 96 and still going strong. He’s losing his sight and hearing by all accounts but still living at home and supported by his friends.
