2 pointsJust doing some, perhaps obvious, musing about the fact that this coming weekend is likely to be the last jubilee of any kind we see for quite a while, in many cases the last during their lifetime. Assuming the Queen died this year, Charles would take the throne at 73/74. He would therefore need to still be on the throne at 98/99 in order to reach his Silver Jubilee, but both death and abdication seem more likely outcomes than that (I suspect Charles will mark the UK's transition to the Dutch model for abdications). William is 40 this year, say he gets throne at 50-55, he'll be pushing 80 if he reached his Silver Jubilee, but even if that was the case, we're talking 35-40 years before the next one at least. Unless the Queen makes it to 75 I suppose, when she'd be 101 (and we run out of names - the internet seems to revert to either Golden or Platinum for a 75th anniversary!).

2 pointsTime for a month update, I reckon. Hardly seems worth the effort though, given that the Reaper seems to have gone on the piss for most of the month. These are the deaths I have noted since the last update on May 2nd. I will hold off on updating the leaderboard until tomorrow, to give anyone an opportunity of pointing out any that I have missed. 3rd May: Norman Mineta 6th May: George Perez 9th May: Qin Yi 14th May: David West 29th May: Lester Piggott 30th May: Boris Pahor That's it. 6 deaths in a month! I know I've said that this game really only gets interesting in September, but come on guys- give me something to work with!

2 points15th President of the United States James Buchanan died on this day 154 years ago, aged 77. Initially a Federalist, Buchanan was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1814. He served for two years, and in 1820, he was elected to the US House of Representatives, as one of three people concurrently representing Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. In 1828, he joined the newly-founded Democratic Party, and left Congress in 1831 after serving five terms. Buchanan was appointed as the ambassador to Russia by Andrew Jackson in 1832, and served for a year. He was elected to the US Senate, serving until 1845, when he was appointed Secretary of State under James K. Polk. In 1853, Franklin Pierce appointed him as the Minister to the United Kingdom. He was elected President in 1856. Buchanan believed that slavery was a "states' rights" issue, and his presidency oversaw the Dred Scott v. Sanford case, which denied citizenship to African-Americans. In 1857, a financial crisis ensued, which saw increased unemployment in northern cities. He also successfully replaced Brigham Young as Governor of the Utah Territory after a Mormon militia killed a group of settlers headed for California. Buchanan did not seek re-election. In December of 1860, South Carolina declared secession from the United States, and seven states had seceded by the end of his presidency. Buchanan believed that secession was unconstitutional, but that it was also unconstitutional for him to stop them. His inaction during this time has caused Buchanan to be considered one of the worst American presidents (in some lists, THE worst) of all time. Buchanan is also the only president so far to have never been married, but he was engaged at one point to a woman named Anne Coleman. Rumors about them spread, and Coleman called off the engagement. She died soon after, and Buchanan wrote a letter to Anne's father (who forbade him from attending her funeral) saying that everything would be explained in a future letter- shortly before his death, he ordered his letters burned. It is also rumored that he may have been bisexual, and having relations with his housemate, (the future Vice President) William R. D. King.

1 pointBut we will be able to sate the royalist palette with plenty of funerals and coronations which will do just as well We once went into a house clearance shop and bought a load of commemorative books for the coronation of George VI and the funeral of George V which included information on the abdication of Edward VIII - big hard back books with colour plates which must have been given away with one of the papers at the time I was thinking that a royalist had died and all their stuff got dumped as there was more modern stuff there too

1 pointCongrats on proving my point of you being a pathetic coward. I’m sure you’re enjoying lounging on the sofa munching on popcorn while innocent lives are dying. Either that or your intentionally trolling just because you want a reaction. Either way, fuck off until you can get some common fucking sense in you, you pathetic waste of a human being
