7 points1. A South African actor, mid-60s, who was in at least one Nelson Mandela biopic. 2. Spanish footballer and manager, late 80s, no international caps despite scoring heavily for one of La Liga's mid-tier teams like Villareal. 3. Someone from a central European nation, early 80s, who has a ridiculous list of jobs that reads something like "TV personality, war criminal, veterinarian, Minister for Culture (1993-2015)". 4. Guy with a red link who played bass/keyboards in the 80s for a band who were famous in the 70s. 5. Italian politician listed as "deputy," which you immediately misread as "deputy PM".

4 pointsMargaret I of Denmark died on this day 610 years ago, aged 59. Margaret (or Margrethe) was the daughter of Valdemar IV of Denmark. She married Haakon VI of Norway, and had a son, Olaf (II of Denmark and IV of Norway), who would become the king of Denmark following his grandfather's death in 1375- with his mother's help, arguing against her brother in law, Henry III, Duke of Mecklenburg. As Olaf was a child when he was crowned, Margaret ruled as regent. Margaret was widowed in 1380, and their son would also become king of Norway because of this. Olaf died suddenly at the age of 16 in 1387. Margaret was chosen as regent during this time, and would soon be known as the "Lady King" to her subjects due to her effective statesmanship. In 1388, Margaret sent troops to help depose the unpopular king Albert of Sweden, who was defeated in battle the following year. Margaret was instated as queen of Sweden, giving her control over much of Scandinavia. In 1397, Margaret united the three countries into the Kalmar Union (which lasted until 1523). Margaret is considered to be among the most powerful women of her time. It wasn't until 1972 that another female would become the queen of Denmark- she would also be named Margrethe.

3 pointsIts 12 years since the death of US actor James MacArthur, aged 72. The adopted son of playwright Charles MacArthur and actress Helen Hayes, he started as a boy actor in radio and theatre work, initially in productions with his mother where a boy actor was needed, before his first TV role at 18; he was contracted to Disney for a time, leading to other work for the studio for which he dropped out of Harvard. Notable films were Kidnapped! and Swiss Family Robinson, both 1960, the same year he made his Broadway debut, opposite Jane Fonda, which would be his only Broadway role, and also the year he had a couple of (very) minor hit singles. Other film roles followed, including one in Hang 'em High, which would lead to his most famous role, Danny 'Danno' Williams in the original Hawai'i Five-O. He reprised the role in an unaired pilot for a 1997 reboot, with Gary Busey, and was to have made a cameo appearance in the 2010 reboot, but died before filming. An on-air tribure was made before the 1 Novermber broadcast.

3 pointsDennis Franz, the noted American actor who won an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for playing the strong Detective Andy Sipowicz on the television series "NYPD Blue" from 1993 to 2005, is 78 today. He previously appeared as Detective Sal Benedetto and Lt. Norman Buntz on "Hill Street Blues". Dennis Franz served in Vietnam with an airborne unit for 11 months. Charo López, the great and hypnotic Spanish film, stage and television actress, a force of nature who was an erotic myth in the 70s and 80s thanks to a famous scene of a female masturbation in the noted television adaptation of "Los gozos y las sombras", one of the towering works of Spanish narrative of the 20th century, is 79 today.

2 pointsSome stuff I've found... Greek show wrestler Alex Iakovidis or Iakovides died in 2020 at 91. Never mentioned before here but he's marked living on Wikipedia twice on this page and mentioned as the "third-oldest professional wrestler currently living" Cowboy Bob Ellis is (possibly) still alive in Oklahoma. When was the last time professional wrestler/bodybuilder/actor Samson Burke was seen? I can't find anything from the last decade. Here's a picture of him with Robert Culp in 2005: Not sure if Big Bill Verna is alive either. For those who want to try searching, he's also been called "Big Bill Verne". And here's Billy Two Rivers early this month:

2 pointsMMA bad boy Anthony Johnson is apparently very ill, but it's unclear what exactly it is: https://www.mmanews.com/2022/10/anthony-johnson-health-update-october/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Johnson_(fighter) It's been an ongoing issue since last year. He had been retired from 2017 to 2021, only to immediately drop out again because of his problems.

2 pointsI've looked extensively for all 3 of these. Whilst I can find Pye in the GRO, I can't find anything strong enough to link it up on Wikipedia. As for Durkin, newspaper obit here. Alas, doesn't mention age, DOB or that he was a footballer! I've moved all 3 to possibly living on Wiki until stronger sources appear. Hopefully Hugman's can verify + update but it doesn't look like their site is getting many updates recently!
