Sad news and feels a bit of a watershed moment on this forum because of his longevity on here and flirtation with immortal status. Rest in peace and thanks for the laughter X

Wow. Rest in Peace Leslie. Brilliant timing from me again, was just this morning remarking on how he was still alive. Happened with Sidney Poitier and Amou Haji too. So, you know Michael Gove...

I refer you to who started the thread! Yes, the two young girls in the film died horrifically young, and I believe Dunne's murderer got away with a stupidly light sentence, but the rest all died of age or pre-existing issues mostly. Though, curses clearly exist. I was skeptical but did you know, of all the people who were there when they opened Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922, none are alive today. Spooky!

Tom Owen's death reminds me - this thread needs a dead tag.

As the last surviving main regular, I was wondering if Jim Dale might be allowed his own thread outside of the Carry On one? I'll admit it'll likely not be an action-packed one. For the record, I think his performance in Cowboy was a masterpiece of comic acting and slapstick, with the pathos/bathos unable to be replicated by the likes of Dicky O'Callaghan as a 'romantic lead'. There, I said it. And he wrote the lyrics to Georgy Girl and had a #2 UK hit as well.

I believe Leslie Phillips in the 3rd Death here (I am not familiar with some of the lesser known names here though.). He passed on the 7th of November. R.I.P. Mr. Phillips. @GuyFromFuture @Summer in Transylvania

As long term TCD fans will know, we add lists to the masterlist as they come in, and then add in the sub points closer to Hogmanay. (And then Betty White went and died, but, it helps when events like that happen. Imagine me needing to sub 4000 points in 2 hours!) So, with an RIP to Leslie Philips, I can confirm that not only is he the first DNS name to fall from contention on the 2023 TCD, but, at time of posting, he was in first place on the list!

Hmm, my team from the first Silver Screen comp so blatantly plagiarised above (only joking) a hit at last for the above player - sure he's probably mentioned in other movies..

I like this from the Daily Mail's write of his death: He is believed to be the only actor still alive who performed at Pinewood Studios in its first week after opening in 1936.

Facebook post reporting the death of Michael Butler (wiki) at the age of 95. Theatre producer behind “Hair”. Edit: I see he was on Richard Nixon’s enemies list. Can’t be many survivors from that list surely? Would make an interesting thread if anyone can be bothered.

Hmm, cancer ran in the family. They brought in for LOTSW to try and replace his dad, but Bill Owen was pretty much irreplaceable for that show, and it was never the same.

Strong disagree with the "replace" part* - Kundera is very ill judging on V. Klaus' comments from April, was allegedly already terminally ill a few years ago and should not be dropped. *Unless he dies before 2023, in which case I agree. Lynne Reid Banks doesn't look like the picture of health (below a picture from a couple of months ago), but as far as I know isn't ill.

Bill Cosby, Jane Fonda, Gene Hackman, Joe Namath, Barbra Streisand and Tom Smothers are all still alive from Nixon's "showbiz" enemies list.
