6 pointsJesus Christ. I hope you never answer honestly in a job interview when they ask what you do in your spare time.

4 pointsSurely that question is put in the interview to see what a good liar you are. When I used to interview school leavers for lab jobs there was a section on the form for interests and pastimes. Generally the girls would write a huge paragraph about all sorts on things they said they did. Lads would put play video games and football. I rapidly learnt that you do not put playing FRPGs on your application form

3 pointsFalco – Rock me Amadeus: Horrific. a-ha – The sun always shines on TV: Great. Fine with this being Top 5. Pet Shop Boys – It´s a sin: Love. Communards & Sarah Jane Morris – Don´t leave me this way: Actually quite irritating. Whitney Houston – I wanna dance with somebody (who loves me): Heard it too many times and didn’t love it from the start. Pet Shop Boys — West End Girls: Love even more than It’s A Sin. Starship – Nothing´s gonna stop us now: Yawn. Rick Astley – Never gonna give you up: Sorry, but the meme killed it. Los Lobos – La Bamba: Impossible to hate. T´Pau – China in your hand: Best power ballad ever. Diana Ross – Chain Reaction: Terrible. She was better than this. George Michael – A different corner: Zzzz. The Housemartins – Caravan of love: Kill it. Kill it with fire. Billy Ocean – When the going gets tough, the tough gets going: Little known fact, the full version of “I know a song that’ll get on your nerves, get on your nerves…” etc actually carries on into this song. Wham – The edge of heaven: Should definitely be higher up than this. Steve ´Silk` Hurley – Jack your body: Clorox said it. Very important and definitive. Boy George – Everything I own: Hello police? I’d like to report a murder. Madonna – True Blue: Don’t like it. Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett – I just can´t stop loving you: Set aside MJ’s noncery, this is still fucking crap.

2 pointsWoodrow Wilson died on this day 99 years ago, aged 67. Decided that I liked doing fast facts for self-explanatory figures (28th US President), so here's some about Wilson. - Wilson went by his middle name- his first name was Thomas. - Only president with a PhD (in political science), and would later become president of Princeton University. These accomplishments earned him the nickname "The Schoolmaster". - Won in a landslide in the 1912 election due to a split Republican vote between the Taft and (more progressive) Roosevelt wings (leaves me wondering if it will repeat itself with Trump and DeSantis in 2024). - Was incredibly racist, seeking to decrease the amount of Black people in the federal government, segregated the US Navy (when it wasn't before), and had the first movie screened in the White House be The Birth of a Nation- he openly praised the KKK. This may be due to the fact that his childhood was spent in Confederate Virginia and that the first memory he could remember was news about Lincoln's election leading to war. - Had a flock of sheep graze on the White House lawn during World War I to save money, and to give their sheared wool to the Red Cross to help make medical supplies. - Suffered a severe stroke in October of 1919. His wife Edith would be the one to bring him papers regarding state affairs. - Only president to be interred in Washington, DC (in the National Cathedral).

2 pointsThis sounds like a guy bought some used music equipment (circa 1982) and just discovered how MIDI works. Go listen to MARRS or West End Girls, which are the approx same bpm and likewise sequenced keyboards and nothing else, and hear the difference. It just sounds amateurish. And 1982 phoned and said it would like its drum machine handclaps back.

2 pointsI killed Billie Jean because I dislike the song. I'm not a fan of Michael Jackson because I don't care for his music; it's nothing to do with anything he may or may not have done.

2 pointsOn this day 23 years ago in 1996, legendary American actor, dancer and singer Gene Kelly, died aged 83. An iconic big name star from the golden age of Hollywood. Undoubtedly his most famous film is musical Singin in the rain opposite Debbie Reynolds but he had many other film credits to his name including, Hello Dolly, Summer Stock alongside leading lady Judy Garland, The Pirate (1948)- again with Judy Garland co-starring, On the town-with Frank Sinatra and Betty Garrett and An American in Paris. The onscreen combination of Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in Singin in the rain made movie magic but it does appear that behind the scenes the two did not really get on all that well!

2 pointsHas anyone been following the GWR Oldest Living Dog dogpile? It's riveting. Guinness went a few years without verifying the age of a dog. That changed in April last year when TobyKeith, born on 9th January 2001, was given the title of oldest living dog. Then, only a month later, Pebbles (b. 28th March 2000) stole the title and even got a certificate. Sadly she crossed the rainbow bridge in October. The title went back to TobyKeith, right? Wrong! Gino (b. 24th September 2000) was given the title in December. Just a fortnight ago, it was Spike's turn to claim the title. He was born in 1999, making him older than all of the above dogs. However, there was some controversy around his age as he was 'discovered' by his current owners in 2009 and there was some estimation involved in his age. Notice that the verification dates don't line up on the certificates? Must mean that they send certificates before fully validating their ages, so the dogs can pose with them in case they cark it beforehand. Today we saw the greatest upset of all time. Bobi from Portugal was born on 11th May 1992, making him the oldest dog ever to be verified. The record had stood since 1939. This dog is 30 YEARS OLD!!!! Bet some of you younger millennials thought you'd outlived all the dogs in the world. https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2023/2/oldest-dog-ever-record-broken-by-30-year-old-bobi-from-portugal-736224 (this article explains how his age was proven, but the owners' parents were puppy murderers so don't read it)

1 pointSome small updates: Daniel Flanagan (1924) is no longer listed by Notts County's Former Players Association as being alive. Harry Jarvis is though. Herbert Jones (1929) died on the 16th April 2020. There is a will for Trevor Churchill but with no other information. I've ordered a copy to ascertain if it is THE TC, but I have good reason to believe it is.
