2 pointsWith the seventh hit at the beginning of May, we have now reached a tie with our list from the previous year. So there's a good chance we'll top this list - after all, there's almost 8 months to go...

2 pointsLook, he is 97 years old. His health is going to deteriorate, he is going to die. The End

2 pointsZero Lives of Ryuichi Sakamoto Yes, I still hadn't done this one yet. Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto has died of colon cancer at the age of 71. He will be remembered for his influential electronic music production, his work in the band Yellow Magic Orchestra, his scores for films like The Last Emperor, The Revenant, and Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, and that one weirdly hot album cover of him holding a lamp in a bathtub. Probably lucky to have lived for another 45 years after that. Now, excuse me while I bring this quote over from the Ryuichi Sakamoto thread to put all the coffee posts in context, because I wasn't sure what you were all on about until I read it: Well, fortune favours the bold... in games other than the Inverse Dead Pool, which is largely unrewarding for the bold, but thank you @Sir Creep for keeping the game interesting at your own 25-point expense. Unfortunately, coffee enemas are ineffective at treating colon cancer. The biggest leaderboard drop, however, is @msc, whose 14-point hit drops him 41 places after he was among the 11 who didn't bet on Bacharach – which means we have our first distinct top 10 of the year, all on 0 points. But for how long? Until 11 days ago, actually, but I'm catching up. The only other points are the 9-osaurus for @TheSpinosaurus, and 1 for @MariNisia, who actually rises 2 places at Creep and Spino's expense. GAINED TOTAL = 1. LizLemon 0 = 1. CaptainChorizo 0 = 1. 1 pointAh, photos, yes. I didn't mean to suggest that he wasn't there, I meant I didn't see him during the broadcast. They were very stingy with shots of the congregation as I said. ETA Seen a photo now - he was next to Princess Anne. Never saw him on screen at all and I did wonder where he was.

1 point6 May 2023 is Wikipedia's stated death date for Menahem Pressler, 125 days from January 1, thus 125 points for me.

1 pointPicture for all those sensible folk who didn't watch. Three points. 1. Yes, he looks old now compared to how David Attenborough used to look. 2. He looks and sounds incredible next to nearly every single other 97 year old male in history. 3. Get him back on the list ASAP anyhow.

1 point@Phantom would like this. At the charity shop I found the Webb Pierce album (see awesome album cover below) that had ‘Alla My Love’ (reached #5) on it (along with I’m in the Jailhouse Now) but didn’t buy it. Instead the guy next to me did, and I got to hear a story about him parking Tennessee Ernie Ford’s car for him and singing at a local Hawaii pub with him.

1 pointI could see the title being "Le Pen de mort for Jean-Marie." It's a play on words ("la peine de mort" refers to capital punishment/death penalty in French and "peine" is pronounced just like "Pen").
-
1 pointAll things considered, I think I’ll just pledge allegiance to myself and a few close friends during the coronation.
-
1 pointTo me he looks like a good 97-year-old but 97 nonetheless. All this talk about him reaching 100 or more is premature.

1 pointHomer Simpson, patriarch of The Simpsons, turns 66 today. Sadly, he would have been only 43 the last time the series was funny.

1 pointAmerican actor Jason Biggs ,best known for playing the role of Jim Levenstein in the American Pie comedy film series and latterly starring in the hit Netflix series Orange is the new black turns 44 today. American actor Emilio Estevez, famously part of the group of actors referred to as the brat pack in the 1980s , celebrates his 60th birthday today. His films include The Breakfast Club, St Elmos fire, The Outsiders, Young Guns and Nightbreaker He is the son of Hollywood actor Martin Sheen.

1 pointUpdate on my pick Mao Kobayashi: https://www.japantoday.com/category/entertainment/view/tv-presenter-mao-kobayashi-battling-cancer-discharged-from-hospital It's a bit difficult to know how she's doing. I relied on Google Translate to tell me that her cancer has spread to the bones. Anyway, this article says she's discharged from hospital. But the comments explain that it's only because she finished a course of radiation treatment. Japanese media are still reporting that she's fighting cancer, and that the cancer is also in her lungs. It's even unclear whether she went home because either she gained quite a bit of time, or because they cannot do anything for her anymore.

1 pointActually, one thingI find even more annoying than that song is prudishness. According to Wikipedia, "Canadian cable-TV music network, MuchMusic refused to air the "Cherry Pie" video on the grounds that it was "offensively sexist"." Apparently, Jani Lane was later married for a while to the daft useless bimbo model who appeared in the film clip.

1 pointChrist, Id forgotten about him, thought he was already dead He does prove, however, that all this keep fit and eat healthy ethos that our nanny Government is forcing down our throats is utter Horse poo when you see the Ex man mountain get to the age of 79. Hope the old fella pulls through. I like him.
