Now this is interesting! I think this might be a good time to invoke Rule 2.1: " "The Hare’s Pool has always been extremely lenient when it comes to accepting “obits” and that will be continued. Unlike other pools, a QO is not used as a barometer of fame – the weeding out process is carried out before the game begins. Basically, anything that convinces the host that the person is actually dead will be accepted" On her Wikipedia page, the 3rd reference is a link to a YouTube video, OF HER ACTUAL FUNERAL SERVICE, made by the Marshall IslandsTelecommunications Authority. I think that's fairly convincing evidence that the woman is actually dead! (Either that or you have really gone out of your way to make a convincing fake video in the hope of bagging the hundred-odd points on offer, in which case you frankly deserve the points!) I will award you the points in the next update.

Far too early in the year to consider it disappointing in this pool - this pool only starts getting going in September. Last year, The Old Crem was in last place on 7th August, yet finished in 4th by the years end. At this time of year, disappointing is when you have racked up 6 or 7 hits for a mere 400-500 points!

Name Points 1 Jan Birthday Age (Points @ BDay) Teams Jokers Jonnie Irwin 10 18 Nov 1973 50(9) 146 63 Henry Kissinger 5 27 May 1923 100(4) 86 5 Yoko Ono 6 18 Feb 1933 90(5) 48 0 Willie Nelson 6 29 April 1933 90(5) 30 1 Glynis Johns 5 5 Oct 1923 100(4) 28 3 Analysis – as of 27 May 2023 These are the D40 picks that will cross a threshold in age that leads to a point loss by moving into a lower point bracket. It is lower than the past two years (2022 had 6, 2021 had 9). It is a tight race and anyone’s game now. As every point counts, some players may regret their choices or pay attention to birth years in the future. Of course, the points for being at D40 pick are not impacted, just the base points from the pick’s age. They could still surprise with a party pooper bonus (cough, Kissinger, cough). I started writing back in March, but that reminded me today to finish it up.

I'm pretty sure Sutton makes it to 2024, but he was a defensive pick as I felt like he'd be the kind of name a lot of top teams would go for due to a) low age and b) not much pick-up by casual players. Mutumbo has been completely radio silent since news of his brain tumour, which for a man who wasn't exactly shy beforehand (he did adverts, he had charities, he was usually on hand to give some comment on the latest basketball) makes me think things are going bad for him. Lee is definitely dying, but she has picked up her schedule recently and seems to be travelling around the US with her documentary. Whether that's because she's had an uptick in health, or whether she's dropped the chemo so she gets a few months of improved living conditions before a short collapse and death, idk. Only real choice I'm ruing at the moment is not fitting Mandela's granddaughter in somewhere, that could have been a game-winning pick in the right circumstances.

British born child actor turned screenwriter Paul Playdon has reportedly died aged 80: https://hmssweblog.wordpress.com/2023/05/13/paul-playdon-spyfi-writer-dies/ After appearing in such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents with Jessica Tandy, he went on to write for TV on such as Mission Impossible, Cannon and Hawaii Five-O. To my generation though, he will be known as the guy who developed the motorcycle cop show CHiPs for TV.

I noticed that in commentary he sounded a bit haggard. 77 now. Motty was younger and he's dead! Time to turn it in I think.

Yeah I agree I am English but certainly veer to the right but as you rightly say Carter Is a figure than transcends political allegiances and I regard him very highly for the fact he has been resolute in what he believes over decades whilst being pragmatic in his opinions and ensuring his post presidency has been spent in the service of others rather than courting the press for brand recognition. This is certainly a sad day.Hoping his final hours/days / weeks are as peaceful as they can be.

Mary Kay Place, the notable American actress, director, screenwriter, singer and songwriter probably remembered for her extraordinary portrayal of country music singer Loretta Haggers in the cult classic television series "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", is 75 today. She won an Emmy Award for her role. Juan Martín del Potro, Argentine tennis player winner of the U.S. Open in 2009, against Roger Federer, and a bronze medal at the London Olympics, after beating Novak Djokovic, in 2012, is 34 today. He also won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics, in 2016. Del Potro is the only Argentine tennis player to win two Olympic medals.

Think he was about the only member of the 1981 US Ryder Cup team who hadn’t (and didn’t) win a Major. Golfers generally live to a ripe old age due to their wealth and access to top healthcare so this is a bit of a shocker. Can’t think of many top golfers in recent times who have died naturally under 70.

Wish it'd been Waddell and the tongue had to go, can't stand the bloke. The ultimate Marmite commentator, along with Alan Green (who I also can't stand). Thinking about it, nobody likes Alan Green do they. Freddie Flintoff was guest commentating on the darts yesterday. Enthusiastic, but pretty shit.

I'm interested, how does one distinguish between a man with testicles and a man with out if one is walking down a street? When putting money in the bank does one ask the male banker to drop his pants in order to see the level in trust you may hold? It also raises serious questions about your current boyfriend.... Much as I agree with my mother, testicles are a vital necessity at some time in the future as perhaps one day I may want children... although that's a long way off. I guess my mother's been messed about a lot in her life, but then you have to ask yourself when it keeps happening whether it really is the men, or maybe it's more about yourself? I don't know. But it's scary that I may actually turn into my mother some time in the future.
