4 pointsSo, this is looking bad for him. Discourses on Channel 4 and The Sunday Times have lined up a fair tonnage of detail. Good chance from here there'll be charges. One ironicly funny twist unlikely to feature in Brand's act is that we know loads about his sexual and chemical adventures largely becuse he - personally - has reported on them many times. I'm thinking any of these women who has a good lawyer talking to them is already being made aware that there's a legal option here you don't normally get. Crudely, a good prosecuting barrister could rip into Brand by pointing out his own confessions of drug use (i.e. how often he was off his tits and the stuff he used) might call into question his reliability as a witness in his own defence. Given that the main witness in his own - it was consensual - defence is Brand, that's potentially a really powerful weapon.

3 pointsI've nothing but heaps of praise for Daniel Sloss for speaking to the program about Brand's notoriety in the comedy industry. Shame he was the only one prepared to do so. Also had no idea about Jimmy Savile being a guest on his Radio 2 show. Their conversation was fucking creepy.

2 pointsJody Kelly, a contestant on The Amazing Race 16 who competed with her granddaughter, died "suddenly but peacefully" on September 5th. Picked in the DDP last year, but it doesn't look like she has a QO yet. She is the 9th racer from the US edition of The Amazing Race to die, and the oldest woman to compete on any edition of the show.

1 pointNot everyone, unfortunately; Buffalo, Cornetto, Imelda and Time have been after it for a while, Commtech started playing the game again just to try knocking it down. But hopefully yesterday's scare will help solidify support for it. Technotronic, Salt N Pepa and Alice Cooper are the only signs of life in this list (assuming Bomb The Bass is about to be bombed), and the latter two look to be pretty safe.

1 pointIts 21 years since the death of Denys Fisher, aged 84. An engineer by trade, he joined the family firm after dropping out of Leeds University, before setting out on his own in 1960, with Denys Fisher Engineering, which won a NATO contract to produce springs for a cannon shell fuse the following year. The financial security of this contract allowed him to pursue another project which had been a passion for some time, namely the production of intricate symmetrical patterns using cogs and gears. This ultimately lead to the invention of the Spirograph, which became a worldwide hit, selling more than 100 millions units by the time of his death. The company was sold to Palitoy in 1970, then to Hasbro, and produced toys, often with TV tie-ins, such as Doctor Who figures, and board games, also often TV-related, such as the On The Buses and George and Mildred board games. Fisher continued to work with Hasbro to refine Spirograph and develop new ideas.

1 pointI watch most things with subtitles these days, which I put down to deteriorating hearing, however, I watch M*A*S*H and Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) on Great! TV and find I can manage perfectly well without subtitles. Clearer enunciation and no overwhelming background music! The 60s and 70s could teach today's programme makers a thing or two.
