Peter Rost (wiki) died on 8 September 2022, aged 91. Despite being a prominent MP, it was unreported at the time so no obits but I see his Who's Who profile and his page on the UK Parl website have now been updated. MP for 22 years from 1970 to 1992. Rost was originally from Berlin. His parents were in a mixed marriage (Jewish/Lutheran) and they were smart enough to leave by 1937, fleeing to the UK.

I don’t know, the fact that the Carter family feels that they have to make this announcement considering Jimmy has been in hospice care for 9 months, makes me think Rosalynn won’t be here much longer. Also, Rosalynn has dementia, which there’s no type of treatment for. Jimmy doesn’t have dementia (that we know of). Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

She is still remarkably good for someone in their 90s who was diagnosed with dementia over 20 years ago.

Thomas Pelham Holles- or Lord Newcastle- died on this day 255 years ago, aged 75. - Newcastle was the first of his family to use a double surname- his father was (Baron) Thomas Pelham, and his mother was Grace Holles. - A partisan Whig, Newcastle would organize street fights with Jacobite opponents following the death of Queen Anne. His support of King George I earned him the title of the Earl (later Marquess) of Clare. - Newcastle entered Parliament sometime in the late 1710s. He served as Secretary of State from 1724 to 1748- during this time, he oversaw domestic and foreign conflicts such as the War of Jenkins' Ear, the War of the Austrian Succession, and the 1745 Jacobite uprising. - Newcastle became Prime Minister upon the death of Henry Pelham (his younger brother) in 1754. The Seven Years' War began during his premiership, and he would be ousted as PM in 1756 due to poor foreign policy decisions. Regardless, he returned to the role in 1757, and would be dismissed again in 1762 by King George III (having preferred Lord Bute). Newcastle was the last Prime Minister to be removed by a monarch (before said power was allocated to the legislative branch). - Because of his ineptitude, Newcastle was often lampooned by 18th-century satirists: (This 1761 political cartoon depicts Newcastle (on the right) as a knave- the fox on the left is Baron Holland (a pun on his real name, Henry Fox).) - Newcastle would retire from politics in 1765. He suffered a stroke in December of 1767 (prime material for deadpoolers from 1768), dying eleven months later.

Here is a full, in depth list of the last known men remaining from before 1912: Validated Men: Juan Vicente Pérez Mora (27 May 1909) health has been stable for years. He doesn't even take daily medications! His personal physician said that at the time of his 113th birthday, he could easily live many more years. Efrain Antonio Rios Garcia (04 April 1910) increasingly frail over the last 2 years. Gisaburo Sonobe (06 November 1911) not enough information, although apparently he can still walk and has most of his original teeth. Documented Men: Otilio Dominguez Santos (15 June 1910) increasingly frail and wheelchair-bound. According to his great granddaughter, he has no health issues. Francis Zouein (01 January 1911) suspicious birthdate, but apparently he has good documentation. Could still dance unaided as recently as May. Abilio Borges Moreira (09 September 1911) unknown. Confirmed alive privately for his 112th birthday. Josias de Oliveira (21 October 1911) could still walk with a cane on his 112th birthday last month. Described by family as "robust". Undocumented/Claimaints: Samwel Mburia (1906) no way this guy's 117. His actual birthdate is not even known. Looks about 90 to me. Wheelchair-bound. Jose Flores Flores (11 July 1907) red flags. Possible identity switch early in life, but this is only speculation. More frail in recent years, but could still walk unaided on his 115th birthday in July 2022. I doubt he's 116, but he's the oldest man I wouldn't rule out. Elias Chavez Alvarez (08 November 1908) very frail. Could move from his wheelchair to his bed on his 114th birthday with the aid of a bar, but that was the limit of his mobility. ID card from 1994 supports 1908 birthdate. Santos Cruz Flores (01 November 1909) frail. Could still walk unaided at the time of his 114th birthday. Documentation actually does exist that supports his claimed birthday, but we have to make sure it belongs to the same Santos alive today. According to his grandson, he is in pretty good health except for his eyesight which has begun to fail this past year. Alvaro Jose de Souza (14 February 1910) considered "plausible" by professional researchers. Could still walk unaided for his 112th birthday in February 2022. Seems frail this past year. Selvino Jesus de Oliveira (July 1910) looks way too young to be a supercentenarian. I'd say he is about 80-85. However, his case was researched by professionals and nothing against him has been found so far. But nothing supporting his case has come up either. Pedro Antonio Rodrigues (12 December 1910) someone claimed he was actually born in 1925 but has not provided any proof. Looks oddly young and is oddly mobile for a supercentenarian. I'd believe the 1925 theory if said person produced actual evidence. Sebastian Catalan (20 January 1911) frail years ago. Milan Q doesn't think he's 112.
