4 pointsI've decided to have a quick look at Wiki articles for the 1950s entrants, so all dates are from English Wikipedia unless otherwise stated. 3 pointsOk, so the sacking of Valerien Ismael is the spur to get this back up to date. But we'll get to that. First, as our non-league correspondent @Great Uncle Bulgaria reported, we've had a hit in the National League South, where existence-threatened Torquay United have parted company with lower league journeyman Gary Johnson. This actually occurred in late February, after Torquay went into administration. He had previously led them from the National League South to the National League Play-Off final and a chance of regaining their league status - instead it has all gone very wrong sadly and I fear for their future. For football fans of a certain vintage, I'm sure we all say "Poor Hells Bells". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68376328 This was a hit for @maryportfuncity and moves him onto 8 hits. Elsewhere, non-scoring hits in the same league were provided by Dartford parting company with Alan Dowson in January, having dropped dramatically off the pace this season after reaching the National South Play-Off Final last year and Bradley Quinton this week leaving Hemel Hempstead who are drifting in lower mid-table. His replacement 'til the end of the season? Alan Dowson. The merry-go-round in full swing! Today has seen Neil Warnock unceremoniously leave Aberdeen after no time at all, as it appears they may be appointing a new long-term manager in the near future. A non-scoring hit for many obvious reasons. But hold the front page, because tonight Watford have finally sacked Valerien Ismael after a run of 1 win in 10 left them marooned in 13th place in the Championship staring at (I think) a third straight season in the league. Tom Cleverley has been named interim manager until the end of the season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66680954 I think nothing sums up the perennial chaos at Watford better than this from the BBC article attached: The only shock was it took them until March this time around. Ismael's departure is a hit for 6 players in total, which means a few re-arrangements on the leaderboard! Leader @Great Uncle Bulgaria gets a 12th hit to hit the 60% mark, as does @Sly Ronnie who remains hot on his heels! I've reached halfway with my 10th hit and @Bibliogryphon moves into joint-4th with his 9th hit. Further down, both @MariNisia and @BuffaloPhil get a 7th hit to move off the bottom (yes, Phil! You're no longer bottom!) - sorry about that @Commtech Sio Bibble - but there's still time! Updated Scoreboard Great Uncle Bulgaria, Sly Ronnie - 12 Wannamaker, Rover and Out - 10 Lady Fiona, Bibliogryphon - 9 Maryportfuncity - 8 Diego, MariNisia, Buffalo Phil - 7 Commtech Sio Bibble - 6

1 pointBarry Sheene died on this day 21 years ago, aged 52. - Like his son, Sheene's father Frank was a motorcycle racer; he built a minibike for a 5-year-old Barry, who learned to operate it. - Sheene would enter his first motorcycle race when he was 17, where he got into a minor crash- yet still managed to finish in third place. He would have his first professional Grand Prix in 1971, being signed to the Suzuki brand's team and becoming its leader in 1973. A serious crash in the 1975 Daytona 200 was filmed live by the BBC, making him a household name in the UK. - Sheen was the winner of the 1976 and 1977 Grand Prix world championships. He would sign to the Yamaha team in 1980, before his career declined due to severe leg injuries in a 1982 racing crash, and he retired from racing in 1984. - After his racing career ended, Sheene often appeared on TV- he was a motorsport commentator (most notably on RPM from 1997 to 2002), and also appeared in a popular advertising campaign for Shell Oil: - In July of 2002, Sheene was diagnosed with esophageal cancer which had metastasized to his stomach. He refused chemotherapy, opting to rely on holistic alternatives- leading to his inclusion on the 2003 DeathList at spot number 25. He died after an eight-month battle, and was the 2nd hit (of 14) of the 2003 list.

1 pointI would be happy to do a 2010s game. I would want to remove all the Syco ballads and charity singles from the runnings, but I'm not sure how fair that would be. It would give the voters a hell of a lot less to complain about, though.

1 pointRoy Martin, born 1929, ex-Birmingham and Derby player, died 'earlier this year' - a Facebook post refers to his funeral being 31st January, so one would presume it was just after turn of the year. https://www.facebook.com/story.php/?story_fbid=893533109439287&id=100063478180019&paipv=0&eav=AfbEKro5lWqg811trmjSYQMGdK4OCKc77fenX7GL7ECpl6Y03hAJ0S0QNhCYiQkzS0M&_rdr

1 point(Crossposting and revising from Old Folkies thread.) Ron Coden, a folk singer and comedian with a handful of movie credits, has died. He was 80. Coden also voiced characters on the Detroit-based children's television show 'Hot Fudge,' (as noted by Sir Creep). https://www.detroitnews.com/story/entertainment/2024/03/07/folk-singer-ron-coden-has-died-after-a-lifetime-of-entertaining/72885041007/

1 pointAn over-simplification in my view and if I could be arsed I could likely dig up posts somewhere on this site that made it clear there were, and are, children's television presenters who are much wanked over too. From the era of Susan Stranks and Jenny Handley to Konnie Huq and Helen Skelton, I'm fairly sure a criteria for their selection in the first place was their potential as wank fodder.
