11 pointsThat's yer lot for this year. I thought there could be one more, but all of them are doing better than usual. This year has been a cosmic joke. Never had so many picks staggering on the brink of death and almost none of them oblige. Jimmy is Jimmy. DVD went from unsinkable to extremely frail in a minute. Laine is rotting. Chomsky was dead for a night. Woodward...is she even alive? Whale, Nolan have been dying for decades now. Hackman looked like he was taken from the coffin in March. Law has disappeared from the face of Earth. JMLP is still in hospital. Brokaw is wheelchair bound and decrepit. So is Tebbit. Eastwood and Scales buried their partners. Marcos got in ICU with pneumonia. Castro was rumoured dead for days. Makes no sense at all.

6 pointsHi everyone - wasn’t sure where to post this but here seems as good a place as any. After a few false alarms I am finally being made redundant on 31st December and at 56 and a half I plan to try and eke out a fun existence on what I have so unless I get bored my redundancy will double as my retirement. With incredible bad timing whilst I was planning to spend the next 10 years hiking all the Wainwrights and having a jolly good time my wife has been busy developing a heart condition - still awaiting a final diagnosis but she’ll be on meds forever by the sounds of it (she’s not obitable before @maryportfuncity asks). Anyway I’ve decided to also retire from Deadpooling and being a member on this site - get on living rather than monitoring who might be dying. I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive, I’ve had some great fun reading and posting on here but I also want to try and reduce the time I spend staring at a computer/phone and this site is definitely something that pulls me in. Somewhere on here there is a post by @Spade_Cooley that says something like ‘it won’t be the last one’ when I won the Hares Pool. In actual fact as it turned out it was my one and only. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful posts, less so to those of you who are obsessed with old and obscure people, and also to those of you who have run the Dead Pools on here that I have very much enjoyed taking part in. I wish you all many happy years living and deadpooling until, like me, you have tired of it (deadpooling) and wish to fill your lives with something new. I’ll still be around until 19th but I won’t be entering a team in this year’s DDP - I think that site and the people who maintain it is amazing and a real labour of love. Take care you wonderful bunch of strangers! Cheers, GUN

2 pointsYou read that right. 30 years of the DDP. A mighty milestone few could've envisioned when it was a local 90s affair that had its own trophy. 2024, despite an overall hits tally on track to break the record, felt fairly arid on the headliner and competitive fronts, perhaps portending a mighty 2025 enema. Whatever happens, @time, @Banana and I are once again here to guide you through it... Dear Jimmy - either die in the next week, or go all the way to- wait, I wrote this before... THE RULES are near exactly what they were last time, with the only edits done being updating all instances of 2023/2024 to 2024/2025, and changing The Times' URL from .co.uk to .com. IMPORTANT REMINDER: The spreadsheet method of entry that began in 2021 remains in service. The 2025 spreadsheet, identical to the 2024 one in all but filename, can be found here. It is heavily recommended to use the spreadsheet as means of entry to reduce Banana's workload as much as possible. If you are absolutely unable to work with the Excel spreadsheet, still make sure to recheck GUN's DDP entry guide thread from 2020 to make the formatting of your email as smooth as possible.

1 pointLegacy obit for American actor Bradford English (wiki), aged 82. Perhaps best known for playing John Strode in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Has an amusing death in that film.

1 pointI feel really sad. You're a very notable member, @Grim Up North, and I'll miss you a lot. Thank you for everything. I wish you and your wife the absolute very best for the future.
-
1 pointAlways sad to see someone go, especially one who stood up for the DDP when it was needed. Take care of your loved ones, I spent a long time doing that, so with nothing to do, staring at a computer all day is all I have!! Remember, you are allowed to drop by at those quiet times and maybe give us a laugh or two. I will miss ya.
-
1 pointNooooooooo! I'll miss you. But good luck, have fun and all the best to your wife.

1 pointWelcome to this fine competition to predict the frontpage of this site: The DeathList Prediction Game 2025! But what is it all about? It's not that hard: What do you think the official DeathList 2025 will look like? Which celebrities will be chosen by the Committee in which order? Please tell us by picking 50 celebrities listing them from No.1 to No. 50. This is the scoring system: +10 points for the exact position +5 points if the person is on the DL 2025 but 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 positions away from the original position +4 points if the person is on the DL 2025 but 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 positions away from the original position +3 extra points for every newcomer who also entered the DL 2025 +2 extra points for every returnee who entered the DL again +1 point if the person is on the DL 2025 but more than 10 positions away from the original position 0 points for unique picks -3 points for every pick who is not listed at the DL 2025 Please name 3 extra names/subs in order of priority. Just in case that the replacement is taken, please tell me in which (any) place the sub should be placed. The other places automatically move up or down and close the gap if necessary. The player with the most points will win the DL Prediction Game. Please send me your DL Prediction Top 50 plus 3 subs through a new PM until 30.12.2024 at 22:59 CET (mainland Europe time 21:59 GMT). All entries are welcome if they include 50 different people in a chosen order from No. 1 to No. 50 and 3 subs. Thanks for joining (again)! 1 point@Ulitzer95 Thank You for calling him out. I knew it had to be a bunch of bull, and whenever he would post another hit I could not roll my eyes hard enough. From what I can see it looks like he has legit 13 hits which is pretty good. So why think you have to lie about it all thinking we are dumb enough to think he has 41 out of 50 hits.
