Jean de Luxembourg is on vacation with his family in Cabasson, France. Looking at the photo, he put definitely too much cotton in his underwear, but he looks decent nonetheless. Belisario Betancur could not attend Ivan Duque's proclamation as president citing health reasons. Rumours floating around he does not support the new government. Anyway his health is generally good. Francisco Morales Bermudez published an autobiography which he declares is his political testament. Could not attend the book presentation citing health reasons. Lee Teng-hui had his residence damaged during a storm in South Taiwan. He is doing apparently very well. Milos Jakes released an interview defending his political legacy. No one has plans about dying. It will be a long wait....

There is an old apple tree in my garden. It was old when I was a child. I think it is a Bramley; cooking apples, anyway. Several years ago I cleared all the ivy that was smothering it as people told me it was no good for the tree. There turned out to be not much actual tree left under the ivy. It's hollow, and since then more of the trunk has disintegrated, so it's just a horseshoe of bark. The ivy has taken over again, and is probably holding it together. Still produces apples, and this year has been ridiculous. I've given loads away to neighbours, taken two big binfuls to a local cider producer, and there are still lots at the top out of reach. Remarkable.

My previous home town of 14000 people, voting for president of the school board (meaning probably 800 people voted lol). I was driving home from wherever and it was about 10 minutes to 8pm, and I passed some lawn sign that reminded me it was voting day. I ran over to the polling place, and voted about 7:56pm, the last vote cast in the matter. They counted the votes and lo and behold it was a TIE, and they determined the winner by coin flip (seriously)....and the guy I voted for won the flip. Had I not voted he would have lost by a single vote. Instead he was school board president.
