You beat me to it. Wofford’s death brings the number of living former U.S. senators that served in World War II down to five. Some of them are famous in their own right. Hollings (SC) - 97 Oldest living former senator Buckley (NY) - 96 Brother of William F. Buckley and one of the few successful third party senatorial candidates Dole (KS) - 96 Presidental nominee ‘96 VP nominee ‘76 Evans (WA) - 93 Warner (VA) - 92 Last living husband of Elizabeth Taylor

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-46958875 I like how you can just quote BBC obits as QO again instead of worrying where on the site it is.

I guess Andrew Fairlie becomes my first ever hit in the DDP. A 'rejected' pick in the alt.obituaries one. Also means rejigging my planned Deathlist Cup team. I suspect I'm not the only one.

Edge of Darkness is fantastic. That's the 6 part series and not the 90 minute film with Mel Gibson, naturally. Oh, and so is An American Werewolf in London. Armageddon Factor is less fantastic, mind you. Top actor. Similar vintage to the also seen in bloody everything Geoffrey Palmer.

Haha - see post above yours Are you just trying to see what the maximum number of posts is that you can make about Andrew Fairlie?

His dead pool appearances are slowly on the rise but it might be a timely reminder here that Gaston Glock still breathes and is approaching his 90th birthday in the summer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaston_Glock Obit suitable for any dead pool a likely shoo-in even if summat else is kicking off big time on the day

First of many, I'd assume. Congrates. (And Cup subs are a fairly common thing...)

Was in Knights of God and the 1996 BBC adaptation of Persuasion. In The Armageddon Factor the scenes with him and Tom Baker are great its everything else that's a bit rubbish.

In which case, congrates to Willz, who was adamant Fairlie was going to make the Drop 40, and jokered him.

Bit of snow here this morning. Not really a covering. Those in the north of England and Scotland can expect same today and tomorrow, with Wales and the Midlands probably in the game by late evening. Mild interlude til weekend then back to cold.

He was like the male equivalent of Zsa Zsa seemed able to survive anything and go on forever and he went on 12 years longer than her. Still it was no life at the end, knowone should linger on suffering like he did as it isn’t fair. RIP

I expect at his age he has retired from pubic events but I would rather not have to think about it to be honest

@Death Impends and @Sir Creep picked Masazo Nonaka, who is replaced by Javier Perez de Cuellar and Buzz Aldrin respectively. Next year the entry period might be shorter, if everyone's okay with that. That way we would have more hits and less sub replacements.

After looking at your two posts today, only thing endangered is your existence on DL forums.

I see nothing wrong with him driving again, he had to get behind the wheel quickly to see if he could still do it. Nothing to do with his age, it just had to be done ASAP. If nothing else, it keeps Brexit off the top spot "Journalists: "Brexit will monopolize the front pages for weeks!" Prince Philip: "Hold my beer!""

I would think that vehicles driven by Liz and Phil are crown vehicles and as such they aren't insured because they are underwritten by the government. I don't know if it still is the case but this sort of incident was usually prosecuted by the police and not the crown; so it would appear as Police v Prince Philip.

According to the papers he has had a new black Land Rover 4 x 4 delivered already to replace the one he smashed up and the headline of one of the papers today is "Phil back on the road". So he doesn't sound very shaken up and is obviously not too scared to carry on driving so that's good news for death listers but bad news for other motorists. I bet he's spent hours on those compare the market websites last night trying to get car insurance because at his age and after that big smash up I bet a lot of companies didn't even want to insure him. In the normal course of events if you pull out from a side road onto a national speed limit main road into the path of traffic and cause a smash up you might be charged with driving without due care and attention or dangerous driving or whatever but in his case that would effectively mean he would be up in court against his wife. Crown v Prince Philip.

Might need to add 'highly regarded sommeliers' to that list soon.
