American born conductor Robert Mandell, dead at 90: https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/news/leicester-news/leicesters-mr-music-robert-mandell-4090151 Worked with Leonard Bernstein, moved to the UK in 1968, directed The Good Old Bad Old Days musical in London and became executive musical director at Leicester's Haymarket Theatre. Died after a fall hospitalised him, and he seems to have contracted the COVID-19 there.

Also promoted to colonel. I wonder if he would have been promoted if he didn't ' go for a walk'.

Fucking hell, I always seem to find a way to cobble these narrow wins in Windy City. I feel like the Florida GOP, except not evil.

Actually I stand corrected. You can run all of those names through the death certificates and all of them are dead except the one born in 1937. Of course, Scotlands People doesn't have every certificates (some uncles of mine have fallen down the back of their sofa) but...well, there's something of note.

I thought he had his own thread for sure, but when looking one up, he didn't have his own thread, so I thought I'd make him one. Certain deathlister if he makes it to the age of 90, but first he needs to stop trying to crash his planes all over the place:

Exactly. They never do, they just moan like fuck, a bit like people on here that moan about the response, lack of action, lack of this, lack of that but would not want the job in a million fucking years. It's easy to sit on the sides and be critical.

That would be me (not the shoelaces bit though). I would be more impressed with Starmer if instead of nagging at the government to spell out an exit plan for the current situation, he had offered one himself.

    Not me, horrible twee stuff.

Fkn hell - 25 points behind I think. Ed Genson not getting a QO is going to cost me the win. EDIT: Also means I need to revisit next year's team. EDIT EDIT: Ironic that I miss out on winning the Windy City Dead Pool because obits in all the Chicago papers don't class as QOs.

Cheers @YoungWillz, I've added the info for Aiello. Just found Hilliard. Franklin, Virginia helped as before there were too many to pick from. So the forum that posted the death notice said he was "George E. Hilliard"... Ancestry: George Earl Hilliard b. 8 Oct 1940 in Southampton, Virginia. Residency recorded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1993 and 1996. Must be our guy. Group details are complete, thanks.

If they’re born abroad and emigrate here and the only record of their birth is their passport or an ID card, the relevant authorities just go with it. Eg Karam Chand or whatever he’s called. Also Fauja Singh will be down as 1911. Truth is they’re almost certainly younger but in the absence of a birth record, they’re recorded in the ONS with what they can present.

So we see from New Zealand who have managed to use an isolate and trace process that it is possible to eliminate the virus from a population where you have control over the movement of people. In Europe which has a denser population and a mobile much larger initial infected population to seed the virus spread, the issues with isolation movement and social distancing have been more difficult to control. Unless you have an immunity or do not suffer badly from the virus you are still potentially at risk of death. Until we get an immunisation this will remain the case as the virus is still being carried in society and the risk from social mixing will continue. None of the governments are coping with PPE as the scale of demand could not have been foreseen or funded from any rational program, supply chains can't be created instantly and lead times are a fact of life. PPE and the raw materials produce it to a standard does not grow on trees or wait on shelves to be picked in all available sizes. What is currently required PPE, testing kits and medics are in short supply often coming from outside of the uk. The current aim is to manage these resources to reduce the level of infection and deaths. There will be shortages, deaths many of which would have happened anyway and critical reviews of the approaches taken (too late and of little use except for future planning). We are hopefully not going to reach Spanish Flu levels. All of the leaders have had to make difficult choices, all will have critics, the question is could you have done any better in real time without hindsight?

Get yourself some of this. Any pharmacy should have it. Really good stuff for getting you back on your feet after a debilitating dose of flu or whatever. Try not to ask for methadone, a mistake I have made in the past.
