Another veteran German actress has died: Maria Sebaldt at age 92 on April 4th. She is best known for starring in 80s TV series like "Ich heirate eine Familie" and "Die Wicherts von nebenan". I always liked her and her acting characters. R.I.P. https://www.gala.de/stars/news/maria-sebaldt------der--ich-heirate-eine-familie--star-ist-gestorben-23050718.html

That is not the issue. He is dying, which was not the case before. I can understand why Biden's schedule might be disrupted. For the past decade as you say, he could have died at any time indeed but there was nothing to suggest it, unlike now. As for the queen, George VI was "well enough" to wave goodbye to his daughter on the 31st of January and died on the 6th of February. I suspect that people thought he had a little more time to come + royal family's engagement were much more important (especially the common wealth trip) at that time than Biden's trip these days. He could have easily canceled his trip if he'd known that Carter was on his deathbed. It can't be compared imo. + G.H.W Bush could have died anytime, which, I think, is the reason why Donald Trump flew overseas. But you're right, it takes a little time between the announcement of his passing and his burial so I guess even if he does die during Biden's trip, he would still be home for the official ceremony.

George W Bush was abroad when Reagan died to commemorate the 60th anniversary of D-day. Presidents don`t cancel major trips just because their predecessor is on their last legs. It makes no difference where in the world you are especially in terms of addressing the nation as can be done technologically and that address will already be planned and ready to go.

Its 33 years since the death of Johnny Reder. Reder was an (US) American sportsman born in Lublin, Poland in 1909, who emigrated as a child, with his family, settling in Fall River, Massachusetts. He played association football as a goalkeeper for several local teams before joining the Fall River Marksmen (named after their owner Sam Mark) in 1929. During his time there, the team won two American Soccer League titles, and two National Challenge Cups. then a further ASL title with the New Bedford Whalers (which was the same club, the franchise having relocated firstly to New York City, merging with New York Soccer Club to become the New York Yankees, then to New Bedford, Mass. merging with Fall River FC to become the Whalers). With the decline of the ASL, Reder reverted to baseball; he'd been a first-baseman at school, and had a brief MLB career with the Red Sox, before dropping to the minors, retiring at 28. He served with the US Navy in WW2, and died of heart disease aged 80.

We thought he was dying with the brain tumor several years ago. At least in America, Carter's previous brushes with death and his immortality are noted in conversation as common knowledge.

As we are now into the second quarter of the year, its time for an update. I have googled all the names on the masterlist to see if any hits have been missed (well since you lazy buggers won't keep an eye on your own teams, someone has to do it ). Two picks died prior to the last update on 13th March: 17th February: Stella Stevens. A hit for @Charles De Gaulle and @WhoamI 3rd March: Jaak Lipso. A debut hit for @chel. In addition, It discovered that actress Vilma Hollingbery, a pick for @YorkshireBanker, died before the start of the game. Well before the start in fact - September 11th 2021. First sub Lynne Reid Banks moves up to take the place on the team. The following have all snuffed it since the last update, to give some unwanted early points to their pickers. 13th March: Dick Fosbury 23rd March: Peter Shelley 24th March: Gordon Moore 26th March: Nikolai Dupak 28th March: Ryiuchi Sakamoto 31st March: Wan Heifeng 3rd April: Nigel Lawson 5th April: Bill Butler 6th April: Nora Forster 7th April: Ben Ferencs 10th April: Al Jaffee. 3 hits in 5 days, including an Al Jaffee joker sends @Wormfarmerhurtling up the table and into the lead, with @BuffaloPhiladding 2 more hits to the total to move into second. 5 players, @chel, @nantonian2013@time, @TQRand @WhoamIall get a debut hit to enter the race properly. 10 players are still to get off the mark.. Here is the top 6, which consists of everyone who has attained 200 points so far. The full scoreboard is on Page 1. Wormfarmer (393 points) 4 hits [AL Jaffee*, Ben Ferencs, Bill Butler, Gianluca Vialli] Buffalo Phil (239 points) 5 hits [Ben Ferencs, Bill Butler, Gianluca Vialli, Hazel McCallion, Lucille Randon] Tracey (223 points) 4 hits [AL Jaffee, Gordon Moore, Miiko Taka, Ted Lerner] JoeMoneypenny (210 points) 3 hits [Hsing Yun, Ryiuchi Sakamoto, Wan Haifeng] Dying Probably (204 points) 3 hits [Betty Boothroyd, Hazel McCallion*, Nigel Lawson] Arghton (204 points) 5 hits [Gianluca Vialli, Ivan Silayev*, Otis Taylor, Rafiq Nishonov, Tim Lobinger)

She is about 2 months younger than Jean Kennedy Smith who is her sister-in-law & the last surviving child of Joe & Rose Kennedy. She is the sister of two assassinated siblings & Edward. As Rose lived to 104, Jean could outlive her assassinated presidenial sibling by 70 years.

And some people thought that Hurricane Katrina was "divine retribution" for the mortal sins of the residents of New Orleans. Councillor David Silvester from Henley-on-Thames believed that the flooding in the UK last year was "God's" punishment for allowing same-sex marriage. A few decades ago parts of the Dutch Bible Belt were hit by a polio epidemic, the result of religiously inspired reluctance against inocculation. Some creepy vicar blamed sin rather than stupidity. I couldn't care much if it were the believers themselves who were struck, but unfortunately it were their children who suffered. And yet people continue to worship this deity when even if he/she did exist, it's evidence of what a bastard he/she truly is and it's only fear that keeps them going. The dad of one of my daughter's friends has been going to church all his life, "works" at the local church - not sure exactly what he does, and gets struck down by some crippling disease in his mid-30s that he now uses a zimmer frame and sometimes a wheelchair to get around. I don't think I've seen him wearing some sort of t-shirt with a bible verse on it. But depsite all that, he believes that "God" is testing his faith.
