2 pointsHe turns 99 next year and has been on every list since 2018, it's safe to say he's going to be on until he dies. As far as I can tell, the only other recent recurring DL pick who was cut at such an advanced age was Herman Wouk who missed 2013 and 2014.

1 pointThe 20/20 game has been a fascinating source of fun and frustration in equal measure but no the first year will all be dwindling Centarians by the end of 2020. @Sean has given his blessing to the continuation of this game in whatever form and we thank him for his initial great idea. This new version will just last one year and from my point of view is relatively low maintenance. Basically the aim of the game is to pick 20 candidates from the years 1921-1930.You need 2 from each year and you must have one male and one female from each year.Candidates only qualify if they have a national news article about their death in English and or an obituary. The game does not start until 1 January 2020 (UK Time Zone) and no teams can be posted before this time and will continue until the end of the year. As soon as one candidate from anyone`s list dies the pool will be immediately restarted and it is first come first serve. You can even be a bitch and steal someone`s entire list if you wish. It is a competitive game. The overall winner will be the person with most hits in the year. The pool restarts as soon as a link from the the qualifying Obituary is posted verifying age of the deceased (by their own standard). No two players can have duplicate picks and the age given in the article will be accepted as soon as the article is published and pasted to this site.It has to be decisive at the time the news breaks. If the age they give is different to the year of birth you don`t get a hit unless it is amended before another death that meets the criteria of a hit. There is no limit to the number of players and you can enter the round at any point. You may even miss some rounds if they are quick. You do not need an admin to confirm your pick if you have a QO to post your next round team but you may be challenged if it in any way suspect.

1 pointHe'll have some health crisis - he's 77, fat, not athletic underneath that blubber and such a raving narcissist that the defection of his close coterie or significant figures in the Republican Party will only prompt a spiral down in his mental state. A while back someone accused me of posting irrelevent shite, pardon me if I'm the main voice on here consistently trying to drag this discussion back to basic biology and consider Trump's chances of seeing his ninth decade.

1 pointMay I offer my congratulations @gcreptile for a stunning Death List Cup 2023 victory. If this was based on politics you have achieved a landslide. Also well done to all the other participants and commiserations to @alt obits guy.

1 pointThe only misstep I truly made was having forgotten about Cheri Pies when making the list. Considering I'd had her in June, no excuses. Wouldn't have mattered in the grand scheme of things, anyway.

1 pointI don't know.. is it time to reply to the congratulations? I hope AltObitsGuy doesn't mind, as there are 10 hrs left... (to get 7-8 hits) Anyway, thanks for the congratulations and the compliments. I don't know what happened to me this year that I just walked through this whole competition. I actually did a little less research than previously, and just focused on the core terms and, most importantly, only in the final days of the previous month. The rest was the forum (like Rachel Pollack, or Tom Sizemore) and "borrowing" (like wannamaker's Cheri Pies and Christopher Fowler, borrowed from Banana's B-team last year!). My best pick might have been Daniel Ellsberg, a universally known name (no research required!) who stuck precisely to the pancreatic cancer timeline. But it all worked out, and I'm super-glad to end on this high note. Maybe the secret was, as so often, the defense, i.e. not having missed a significant name, except for maybe Tongo and Rolf Harris. But the ratio of hits/misses was quite good. And well, I played the most Cup games of all, so the experience might matter. As I said last year, I might be available for hosting next year. I think I won't participate then as a player. I can't imagine a better finish anyway. Thanks to my opponents for the spirited games, and to Spade for hosting this tourney.

1 pointtol - thank you for your interest. Yes, I plan on having a 23-24 edition. I will be starting a new thread in the next week or so, and plan to start accepting entries once I put this one to bed Aug 11. Look for a deadline to submit of Aug 31. Pool will run for the 12 months following, with only a few minor tweaks which I hope will improve the game. This one is quite exciting!

1 pointIf I can precede this by noting Gaynor Faye is always one of those actresses I am aware is in things rather than seen (as its mostly Corrie, Emmerdale and her mums shows). This is me learning Gaynor Faye is younger than I thought! She's 50. I legit thought, as a 90s Corrie name, that she'd be ages with Kirsten Scott Thomas and the others from that 1990s generation of actors who are in their early 60s now!

1 pointThere's a Pamela May Collier dead in February 2015, according to this: https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/Wills?surname=collier&yearOfDeath=2015&advancedSearch=False&IsGrantSearch=True#wills Brighton registry, so sounds about right. Wonder where the Collier name came from?
