Pavarotti does not deserve to run away with this. Get over yourselves. Futile exercise to try saving it now but I'd just like to say Justify My Love is one of my fave Madonna songs.

2 pointsWe've just done the entire S4 (final season) of Sex Education in one big long sitting. OH was very dubious beforehand and I had an open mind but didn't know what to expect of it. We both adored it. So many genuinely powerful and emotional moments this series, but the writers know exactly when to throw in a moment of levity just enough to bring you back up again. Tears one moment, laughter the next. It is a joyous world to be immersed in and you get so, so attached to so many of the characters that you yearn to be there, in their world. What a series. What a show. I can't wait to escape reality for a bit and watch it all start to finish again. I also wish the show was around when I was secondary school age. It'd have helped me and countless other adolescents a great deal.

2 pointsHis death certificate reveals he died of prostate cancer that spread to his bones. Seriously, why can't people just explain in a sentence what the link they've decided to post entails? Do y'all work for these media companies and need the clicks?

2 pointsI hope he gets to his 100th. If there is anyone out of the 45 people that have been President of the USA who deserves to get to that milestone it's him. And I love how back in February everybody here was getting ready for the inevitable yet here he is...still with us.

1 pointPoppy Chancellor, daughter of Anna Chancellor and former DDP hit Jock Scott, dead from leukemia at 36. Would have tried arguing she was famous enough for next year's DDP because she was an illustrator of some minor note.

1 pointTurkish Football player Galip Haktanir, who was an unused substitute at the 1948 Olympic Football Tournament, has died aged 102. He was the last known* male Turkish Olympian from the 1948 Games. Now the last known* 1948 Turkish Olympian is Uner Teoman. She ran the 100 metres. Haktanir was Turkey’s longest lived Olympian ever. He was also the longest lived and only centenarian Olympic football player, though he was a substitute. Now the last known** living member of the 1948 Olympic Football Tournament is Dutch Kees Rijvers, who played Netherlands only game against Great Britain. * Mustafa Batman whereabouts are unknown. Olympedia gives his birth date, 1927, but does not mention anything about his death. His Turkish wiki doesn’t say his birth nor death dates. He is not listed here either. He was member of the Athletic team but didn’t took part in the tournament. **Several 1948 football players whereabouts are unknown : the whole Afghanistan squad, and a few Chinese and Egyptian. However they’re most likely dead as they don’t appear on this or that list.

1 pointSo, Basil is only the 4th Grand Prix driver to die this year. The other three got QO's pretty easily. For some unknown reason (as he was far from obscure), pretty much ignored by motorsport press. Pathetic. Anyway, I'm not sure what counts for various DPs so please find below. If it's proof he's dead only, it's all below. If it's like a DDP QO... I have to say it's unlikely. https://tributes.smh.com.au/obituaries/490399/basil-van-rooyen/?r=https://tributes.smh.com.au/obituaries/smh-au/ https://theauto.page/classic/basil-van-rooyen/?fbclid=IwAR22hdWdFrFZrbNUTdcv4I-ZURiuskLmf2_cPRWs7Ze6r2LOcz6WHmzHw98& https://www.picaluna.com/rsvpmaker/basil-van-rooyen/

1 pointHere was me thinking they were going to hire Michael Bay to film a car chase through the streets of Paris complete with petrol tankers, helicopters and say a nuclear missile just for good measure..... (I posted this here because I am too chicken to put it on Twitter)

1 pointThis seems to have gone unnoticed on here. Stephanie Wagner Miller, widow of Congressman and Vice-Presidential candidate William Miller, died back in July, aged 100. Also the mother of her namesake: a daughter Stephanie who is a liberal radio host. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/washingtonpost/name/stephanie-miller-obituary?id=52559100

1 pointCelebrating that fact that I have now earned all 8 reactions on this site at least once, the last one I needed was Confused which @mymango has so graciously just betrothed upon me in the Jimmy Carter Thread, they're also the only ever user to give me the Angry reaction and 2 of my 3 Facepalms.

1 pointThis is almost one for the great gigs in the sky thread. Neil Young nixed a BS reunion in 1986, before winding up his former bandmates when the song Buffalo Springfield Again on his Silver and Gold album expressed a wish to reunite the old band. At which point bassist Bruce Palmer promptly died. Palmer had been deported from the USA so he wasn't the only bassist in the band. But the reunion is permanently knackered now, any line up claiming to be a genuine BS get together is - at least - slightly compromised.
