4 pointsThere’s a lot more to him than Del Boy. He deserves his own thread a fuck side more than a lot of the recent creations.

3 pointsAfter conducting an extensive search through the forums, I was surprised to discover that David Jason did not yet have his own thread. Although he doesn't appear to suffer from any known illnesses, I would argue that as one Of Britain's most famous TV actors, the "only Fools and Horses" deserves his own thread. Especially with the recent passing of John Challis, it just appears that his generation is beginning to disappear.

3 pointsPost-match analysis of my 2021 "hits": I'm not a great picker – but I'm a pretty good ranker. 1. Larry King, 2 points. There's no such thing as a guaranteed Covid death, right? Even extremely ill people often end up getting a symptomless lucky break. If he'd been a popular pick, I'm not sure I'd have bothered, but nobody else picked him – so, in the spirit of contrarianism, I simply had to. It's quite satisfying to start the game in sole last place and slowly rise up the ranks! Makes me feel like I'm playing against rubberbanding AI opponents. 2. Murray Walker, 6 points. Old guy who died. It happens. 3. Prince Philip, 1 point. I just quite liked the symmetry of him and his ball-and-chain flanking the list from either side. And he wasn't that old, was he? 99 in royal years is like 27 in normal human years. He's basically Kurt Cobain. No wonder all the British internet went greyscale to mourn the tragic death of this young boy. 4. Norman Lloyd, 5 points. I have a sort of rule that anyone who's in the Inverse 50 on age grounds alone must make at least one appearance on my team – even if, statistically speaking, that age is Holy Shit How Can You Possibly Not Be Dead Already years old. 5. Sarah Harding, 4 points. Quite a speedy cancer turnaround – I thought I was pessimistic expecting her death to cancel a Girls Aloud 20th anniversary reunion in 2022, when actually, she's died so far in advance, the rest of them now have enough time to plan a Sarahless reunion without it seeming insensitive. 6. Betty White, 10 points. Well, me and People Magazine both. 36 places above my mother? I'll take it! (The Inverse Dead Pool 2022 – hosted by your reigning runner-up – is now open, if any of you haven't noticed. Team submissions close in 24 hours! Don't miss it!)

2 pointsJust when you thought it was dead for good, it's back! With the permission of most recent game-runner Clorox and original host Joey Russ, I am going to try and resurrect the Jokers pool. For no other good reason than I am bored, and I have a soft spot for the first pool I ever won. For the newbies, this is a seemingly unloved pool where you get to pick a whole 50 names from the list of 2022 DDP Jokers. Points are allocated according to a scoring system that you only partially get to see. No-one counts the scores for ages. Everyone gets confused or annoyed or both, and at the end of the year, a seemingly random winner is announced. Or not! What could be simpler? In due course, I will edit this to ensure that there is a better intro to the pool. For now, let's get down to business and get the pool launched. POOL RULES TEAM Choose 50 names from the masterlist below. All of these names were selected as "Jokers" in the 2022 Derby Dead Pool. Please also include 3-5 subs with your entry. Nominate five of these names to be your wildcards. If they die and receive a qualifying obituary for DDP, they will score double points. Post your team in this thread or PM me. Entries close at 23.59 on 31st January 2022. That's just over a week, so better get to it sharpish. POINT-SCORING 1 base point for a 'hit' 2 pts for a Drop 40 pick in DDP (reduced from previous years) 3 pts for a unique pick in DDP 3 pts for a solo pick in this pool 3 pts for an unnatural death 2 unlucky pts for a hit on the 13th of any month 2 pts for a DeathList.net alumnus i.e. from 1987-2022 (new) 1 pt for hits at certain spots on your list. Which spots they are, however, are hidden until they are scored. There is also an extensive set of hidden bonuses. These are top-secret. So secret that even I do not know them. Seriously! - I'm still waiting for Clorox to actually send me the rules . It is generally stated that "they will each be revealed when they are struck." However I won it in 2019 without ever finding out what the bonuses were and how I hit them, so that may not actually happen. The bonuses will be the same as they were in 2020, so I cannot be said to have an advantage of knowing the bonuses in advance. I will submit a randomised team before I read the bonuses, so I will be at a disadvantage before we start. All straight-forward - No? Everyone excited to have it back - No? Who cares- lets give it a go. Good luck to all!

1 pointEven if he survives this, I don't think he'll have long and the frequent hospitalisations will probably continue. He's almost 97 with a long history of heart issues and seems like his heart is now really running out of time. Another useless fact about him: In 1994 he banned Schindler's List, calling it "anti-German, pro-Jewish propaganda" Seems like he also believes in the NWO conspiracy.

1 pointSir David Jason turns 82 in 10 days. Whilst he looks quite ropey, his brother, actor Arthur White turns 89 in September. I think he'll go first.

1 pointThis is my opinion on the matter. The Western media (as usual) is very biased in its reporting on foreign affairs. Which is why most think World War 3 is on the horizon. 1. Russia and Ukraine Russia has already annexed parts of Ukraine (Crimea) while supporting insurgents throughout the eastern half of the country. Russia, justly or not, does not want the West/NATO on its doorstep. That was the whole reason satellite countries existed for the U.S.S.R. Russia is very unlikely to take control of the entire country of Ukraine, mainly because they don't need to. The eastern half is an easy fight for them and leaves the other half as a messy country that will never join NATO. Take notice of Georgia from 2008. Russia has calculated they can invade Ukraine with little consequence. They are correct. No one will send soldiers besides Balkan states (maybe) and Ukraine themselves. What doesn't get talked about in media is the giant oil reserve that was recently found off Ukraine's eastern waters. That oil itself will more than pay for any sanctions imposed on them by U.S/West. Keep in mind as well most of Europe gets natural gas from Russia and they can't afford to anger them over it. This doesn't even mention the need for clean water in Crimea. Conclusion: It is a matter of if, not when Russia invades. When they do little will be done to stop it and no serious harm will come of it. It gets more severe for them if they invade the entire country (they won't). 2. China and Taiwain Western states and specifically the U.S have sworn to protect Taiwain from invasion. They have not done this for Ukraine. Only hinted at it. Taiwan is also a major producer of semiconductors. Which the U.S needs badly. They won't let China cut off their supply or even threaten it. Taiwan requires a sea based invasion which will last a very long time. Taiwan has been preparing for it. China would also have a split front as Tibet, Hong Kong, Macoa are currently not "in the fold" of China just yet. They still rebel and China has been slowly breaking their resolve. They won't acquire a new territory until the one's they already have are under control. That being said, China wants Taiwan badly...one day. Your comment about China wanting to kill its citizens is....odd. China does not have the iron grip of its country as we like to think. If they purposely sacrificed millions for a needless war I doubt the country would survive. They don't want to lose millions for an island. Conclusion: China may take the opportunity of Russia invading to further inflict control on Hong Kong and Tibet. They won't make a move on Taiwan for decades. That being said, one day they will invade. Just not anytime soon Russia and China They aren't allies. They are nervous partners. Russia does not want to be under China's control. Look what happened with Germany. They have common interests, but not allies. Certainly not working together for world domination as Western media portrays. Just my 2 cents.

1 pointTim Bilton is logged in the DDP as the chef, and chef Tim Bilton is still active on social media as of yesterday (or his ghost is unduly concerned with haunting Instagram). His death does appear to have been reported by a few sites I've never heard of with spelling mistakes in the headlines, but here he is personally denying it.
