Big thanks to @Grim Up North for all the work he's done. I look forward to this new challenge and undertaking. Hope everything is a bit patient with me as I get my footing. Best of luck to everyone this year!

Yes, deadpoolers, it’s that time of year again. Even in a world without the Queen, Gorbachev, and an old lady who danced with Obama, the Derby Dead Pool remains everpresent ahead of its 28th year running. After three Decembers of entering 500+ teams, @Grim Up North is retiring from his team entry duties and passing the baton to @Banana. @gcreptile and I retain our committee positions for the upcoming year. Libby and Gorby had 24 verified DDP appearances - now only Keith Richards and Holly Johnson are in contention for a 25th next year THE RULES (which also contain instructions on submitting a team) remain the same as before. Emails should be going out later tonight. IMPORTANT REMINDER: The spreadsheet method of entry that began in 2021 remains in service. The 2023 spreadsheet, identical to the 2022 one in all but filename, can be found here. It is heavily recommended to use the spreadsheet as means of entry to reduce Banana's workload as much as possible. If you are absolutely unable to work with the Excel spreadsheet, still make sure to recheck GUN's DDP entry guide thread from 2020 to make the formatting of your email as smooth as possible.

Recent interview with yer man himself here: https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/david-mccallum-interview/ Interesting that he was sick after eating health food with health food nut Robert Vaughn (deceased) and also he has 2 shows left on his NCIS contract, which he will fulfil if he is able to travel. But anything can happen when you are 90+. I won't be picking him anyway, a hero of mine.

Welcome to this fine competition to predict the frontpage of this site: The DeathList Prediction Game 2023! But what is it all about? It's not that hard: What do you think the official DeathList 2023 will look like? Which celebrities will be chosen by the Committee in which order? Please tell us by picking 50 celebrities listing them from No.1 to No. 50. This is the scoring system: +10 points for the exact position +5 points if the person is on the DL 2023 but 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 positions away from the original position +4 points if the person is on the DL 2023 but 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 positions away from the original position +3 points for every newcomer who also entered the DL 2023 +2 points for every returnee who entered the DL again +1 point if the person is on the DL 2023 but more than 10 positions away from the original position 0 points for unique picks -3 points for every pick who is not listed at the DL 2023 Please name 3 extra names/subs in order of priority. Just in case that the replacement is taken, please tell me in which (any) place the sub should be placed. The other places automatically move up or down and close the gap if necessary. The player with the most points will win the DL Prediction Game. Please send me your DL Prediction Top 50 plus 3 subs through a new PM until 31.12.2022 at 22:59 CET (mainland Europe time 21:59 GMT). All entries are welcome if they include 50 different people in a chosen order from No. 1 to No. 50 and 3 subs. Thanks for joining (again)! Thank you for your service @Grim Up North! I'm so glad we got to share the duties and it was such a huge contribution of you to cover that Decembre period in that critical time. I also expect to pass eventually into the DDP afterlife, but I'm still here to welcome @Banana and look forward to our mutual work on next year's competition. To All: Yes, the Excel spreadsheet helps a ton! Please use it, even if you've never used excel before. You really just have to write in names into the "box", or cell, as these spaces to be filled are called.

Wooooo! Enjoy retirement, @Grim Up North - you were an absolute star setting up the Cmme, dealing with the spreadsheets and data entry, telling me off when I got too Glaswegian with the punters. This whole thing would have died a death in 2019 without him. Good luck @Banana - you've been vetted by the best so I have full faith!

@gcreptile... We would be grateful if you could just give us a bit more time.

Julia Reichert was my joker IIRC. Hopefully, it gets me into the listed scores at least.

The Daily Star strikes again... SICK DEATHLIST CELEBRATES QUEEN'S DEATH WITHIN MOMENTS OF PALACE ANNOUNCEMENT!! ... A disgusting website celebrating the deaths of celebrities in a quasi-hit list has announced the passing of Queen Elizabeth II just moments after Buckingham Palace issued a statement, describing the tragedy as "From Sceptre to Spectre" A sick website predicting the deaths of celebrities has celebrated the passing of Queen Elizabeth II just moments after her death was announced. ... The DeathList, at deathlist.net, has a list of 50 celebrities they expect to die in 2022 and proudly proclaims that her Majesty is now the seventh in the morbid list to have died. The sickening website read "From Sceptre to Spectre", adding that more details were to follow.

I’ll say this much, whether Pelé is on his way out or not, it seems obvious to me that his family wants some privacy as they clearly would rather not tell the public what’s going on. In which case, if it’s the case that he’s on his way out the person who leaked such news should really be ashamed for breaching said privacy. Yes, you can say that’s the cost of fame or what not, but just give them some space instead of letting the world know he’s on his way out. That is really a difficult time for them, and I think the coverage is only making it worse for them.

Riding high in the UK charts right now - in the wake of it's impending cancellation - is the Neighbours theme. Singer Barry Crocker is 86. Composer Tony Hatch is 82. Maybe not next year, but surely not too many years left in them.

This is completely random. Baseball was invented in 1845, rounders isn't even baseball. It's a game something like it, but it's still different. God knows what the rules were. What your trying to compare is far out of place.
