1 pointOk so like I did for the previous list, I took a look-see at America’s number 1 songs. In general they all ALL suck. Interestingly we only had about 9 songs all year 1996 (seeing as we have over 30 to vote on). But before I look at 1997, I’d like to ask just where the HELL this song is — it topped the charts here for an astounding FOURTEEN weeks — but it isn’t in the U.K. list. Explain what the hell you were listening to August, September, and October 1996…

1 pointOh me too. But I've been good and voted for what I prefer as a song. I like a lot of Bowies stuff but not really the things made #1 so that's one I can think of. However I've definitely downvoted things that weren't my least favourite though, either because I knew damn well something I detested more than what I actually chose was going to go anyway, or in order to facilitate a faster finish by joining with others on the last circling the drain whether I liked it or not. But I haven't voted up anything I don't much like because of an artist I did. Shrug. Not as squeaky clean as I'd like maybe, but I can live with myself.

1 pointConfirmed. Ralf Little adds his two-penn'orth. The usual tact and empathy of The Sun was in full-force on the front page today, reading: "I leapt in front of a lorry hoping to die" S'cuse the pedantry but...reading that commaless headline, I'm wondering why the lorry wanted to die.
