Keith Harding (wiki), former Tory MSP, died on 15 November 2021, aged 82. Just updated his Wiki, which still had him listed as living. A few notes on him – former leader of Stirling Council (1991–1995), very well liked across the political divide (e.g. he was the only Tory to be invited to former First Minister Jack McConnell's 40th birthday bash), defected to the neoliberal "New Party" in 2003 with MSP colleague Lyndsay McIntosh. Later retired to Brittany from 2004, where he was active before dying from a sudden illness. Received obits from The Scotsman and The Courier, but it was never spotted/reported on DL Forums for some reason.

I've been here a while. The DDP rule here has been in force all that time, and yet nobody has bitched about it until now. And that was before the "wide open" Yahoo QOs were accepted. A passing reference, a caption on a photo, all these things count provided they are from a qualifying source and they reference the death. True, they are not obits - but the rules that everyone signs up to are clear from the outset. Some may not like them, but they agree to the rules when they submit a team. If you still can't get an obit, either you are incredibly unlucky or you have picked an obscure celeb so bloody obscure to the great unwashed British public that even the numerous sources aren't interested in covering them.

This one made me lol. Can't imagine she got the respect she deserved from her pupils: TROLLOPE Betty Joan died peacefully in hospital on 17th October 2023, aged 97. Much loved. Formerly head of Rochester Girls’ Grammar School. Private cremation. Service of thanksgiving will be held at Rochester Cathedral this year.

Looks rougher in this photo that popped up, but the insights from the person in the photo with him sound more positive. (All the comments are from the same person).

Folk take this far too seriously. The interminable search for an unique. Such in fact that to the extent that people like Jane Birkin and Jimmy Buffett get missed. I play along for a little distraction. I have no access to the resources some seem to have to pick up on those picks that might mean winning or doing well. I like my teams, I like my topics, and I also like learning about folk, even if I have never heard of them I have no interest however in actually picking folk that mean nothing to me except points on a board.. Winning/high scoring is the furthest thing from my mind. I roll with the punches, I live with not getting an unique obit (but I will still complain about it on here - see Philip Latham! who did finally obit) and move on. Some folk are just good at this. If I'm not, my life isn't ruined.

They had lots of family functions (not this wedding though) at Notre-Dame-du-Chardonnet around Paris' Quartier Latin. This church has been taken over by the Society of St. Pius X, a traditionalist fraternity of priests who opposed teh Second Vatican Council and eventually got excommunicated for ordinating bishops of their choosing. There's plenty of unsavoury stuff like Holocaust denialism in their ranks, abuse allegations go without saying, and generally they're close to parties like the Front National in France. The church has been occupied by them since the 80s and remains so till today; French authorities haven't intervened so far on grounds on best keeping the peace that way (?). I happen to know a family close to the Pius brothers, preferring to attend the old-style Tridentine mass. It seems though that over the last one or two years they've come to the conclusion that they're indeed a bit icky and now have sought out priests of the Fraternity of Saint Peter, essentially Pius defectors who eventually submitted to Rome in exchange for privileges such as the right to hold mass in Latin.

Col. Sam Inukoba, a leader of the All Progressive Congress in Bayelsa State (Sudan) and former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party has died a month shy of 66, of 'food poisoning'. After his recent party switch he probably had a few enemies. SC http://bolateethole.blogspot.com/2015/09/former-pdp-chairman-dies-of-food.html?m=1
