9 pointsMy theory is that years ago, a mysterious man in a dark alley told the committee never to pick Glynis Johns. When they asked why, they were not given an answer. Yet they obliged year after year, despite incessant calls for the aged British national treasure to be selected. Until one day, they finally caved in to peer-pressure and made her #15 on the DeathList 2024. Within merely 4 days, she was dead. A short-lived high, certainly, but at what cost? Has it unleashed a new dark era of DeathList filled with disappointment and sorrow? Can the curse ever be lifted? Only time will tell...

6 pointsWhy the fuck were they doing heart surgery at the palace? A hospital is the place for that sort of thing.

5 pointsFive left, and only one hint of Christmas remaining. I asked at the start of the game what Christmas is all about. We’ve answered: anything, as long as it’s not Christmassy.

4 pointsWelcome to the pool. I must inform you that picking people who are already dead (namely Munger, Delors, Jara, and Santos), as well as people picked by other players (namely Ariyoshi, Magre, Lovell, Dougan, Woodward, and Caine) is not allowed as per the rules of the game, and is probably more damaging to one's own chances of success than anything else. You will need to remove and replace these names in order to have a fully functioning team.

2 pointsConsidering they're going to have to find a lot of new names for the 2025 DL, have absolutely zero objection to the committee shoving Chuckie in the low 30s.

Both she and Princess Alexandra are the royals I think deadpoolers should be most focused on.

1 pointI'm always happy to see you play. If your goal is to get a higher score you need a few good names though. To improve your score you probably need about 10 hits. I think the forum itself has some pretty good suggestions, easily good enough for that. But I also predict that next year this competition will not be won by secret young names, but rather by a bunch of 60-70 year olds. Especially in this competition that would mean that the scores will be lower.

1 pointSo you've got: England: Ethel Caterham (115)/Donald Rose (109) Scotland: Jenny Smart (109)/Hugh Kerr (109) Wales: Kathleen Somerville (108)/Owen Filer (105) Northern Ireland: Agnes Thompson (109)/Norman Irwin (106) Ireland: Ruby Druce (108)/Joe Veselsky (106) A lot of mega-oldies don't really get coverage anymore: neither of the Scots have, for example. These are also only the oldest folk who've been identified: it's possible there's older folk who are anonymous.

1 pointHi everyone - wasn’t sure where to post this but here seems as good a place as any. After a few false alarms I am finally being made redundant on 31st December and at 56 and a half I plan to try and eke out a fun existence on what I have so unless I get bored my redundancy will double as my retirement. With incredible bad timing whilst I was planning to spend the next 10 years hiking all the Wainwrights and having a jolly good time my wife has been busy developing a heart condition - still awaiting a final diagnosis but she’ll be on meds forever by the sounds of it (she’s not obitable before @maryportfuncity asks). Anyway I’ve decided to also retire from Deadpooling and being a member on this site - get on living rather than monitoring who might be dying. I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive, I’ve had some great fun reading and posting on here but I also want to try and reduce the time I spend staring at a computer/phone and this site is definitely something that pulls me in. Somewhere on here there is a post by @Spade_Cooley that says something like ‘it won’t be the last one’ when I won the Hares Pool. In actual fact as it turned out it was my one and only. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful posts, less so to those of you who are obsessed with old and obscure people, and also to those of you who have run the Dead Pools on here that I have very much enjoyed taking part in. I wish you all many happy years living and deadpooling until, like me, you have tired of it (deadpooling) and wish to fill your lives with something new. I’ll still be around until 19th but I won’t be entering a team in this year’s DDP - I think that site and the people who maintain it is amazing and a real labour of love. Take care you wonderful bunch of strangers! Cheers, GUN

1 pointRecent articles on Eeva Kilpi talk of her like she's dead already, and there have been lots of events celebrating her life recently. Strong implication she's very ill and a good low requirement pool possibility for next year.
