According to Katherine Jenkins who spoke to her this week on the phone she seems to be in good spirts and is delighted by the revival of We’ll Meet Again and the Queen’s mention of it.

Randomly popped into the 110 Club and found what has to be the record holder for the above - Lois Holden (previously Lois Russell), member of obscure gospel group the Gospel Stars, turned 110 in February. The Gospel Stars released several singles, along with the first Motown album.

I remembered him as being a good-hitting second baseman. And he did win a Silver Slugger once. His .283 average is solid. But his OBP was horrific at .309 and he only had 36 HR in his entire career. He hardly struck out though, never more than 55 times in a season, and he once stole 54 bases (203 total). If a second baseman was putting up sub-.700 OPS's now, though, they'd be at risk of losing their starting job. It was just a different era then, of course. Contact hitters were valued by managers, particularly middle-infielders who could "handle the bat."

I’m intrigued why you are so fast to say Biden’s a paedo when there’s a great deal more pointing to Trump liking them very, very young.

And note the debate about deleting this Wiki page on an actor who, although I didn't know the name, was an instant "oh yeah that guy". Wiki Editors are crazy.

Indeed, but you can't assume coronavirus the cause of every ail in the world. Old people are still going to die of natural causes like they do every time there isn't a pandemic.

Notable that seven deaths have happened within the last month. Only 8 listed for all of last year. None have been noted as Covid-19 but it makes you wonder.

Make that all runners. And cyclists. I've had to make a choice between keeping my dog on the lead or muzzling him, because quite understandably he thinks that anyone approaching silently from behind at speed is a potential assailant who will attack me/him/us. It wouldn't be so bad if they called out a warning, but no, the thoughtless twats just appear at my shoulder out of nowhere.

Damaso Garcia, a two-time all-star second baseman for the Toronto Blue Jays in the 1980s, is dead at 63. He was given six months to live about 30 years ago after they found a brain tumor, so you could say he beat the odds. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29038959/former-blue-jays-2b-damaso-garcia-dies-63 I don’t really remember seeing him play, though I’m sure I did, but his ‘84 Topps baseball card was one of the first I ever owned.

Speaking as a former editor, you guys have to understand that Trump has a very very loyal fanbase. 93% of republicans stand behind Trump. Even when Trump's reign is over, Trumpism or whatever you wanna call it will live on. Despite this, a fair amount of libertarians voted for Trump as he is less authoritarian than Hillary (despite being authoritarian nonetheless). I reckon Trump will have lost the libertarian vote. During 2016 there was a lot of speculation that Trump will essentially kill everyone and will be worse that G.W.B. Right now people know what Trump is all about and what they will get with him in charge - be that a good thing or a bad thing. When it comes to Joe Biden, the best argument for him is that fact that he is simply the 'Not Trump' option. Personally I don't think thatll be enough for him to win. Like Hillary, Joe Biden needs to offer a promise of significant change for him to win. As many know, Biden has a very creepy habit of sniffing young children and making contact with them inappropriately. Trump has not much more than mere accusations - although he is questionably grabby with his daughter Ivanka. From a social and moral standpoint, both men aren't exactly people you want hanging around your daughters. When we look back at the 2018 election, Trump lost the house but made gains in the Senate. Trump was the third president in 100 years to do this, which leaves me to believe that he will be re-elected no problem.

Been very quiet since. I did ask about last November but the question was ignored, so, you never know. (Although hopefully not, Prescott's one of the few politicians I outright liked.) As for age, I'd have trusted the wisdom of a nonagenarian Betty Boothroyd or the late Lord Carrington over pretty much all of the Cameron, May, Johnson and Corbyn front benches!
