5 pointsEleven years later, Carl Davis is now dead. In addition to World at War he also did stuff like The Naked Civil Servant, conducted the BBC's 2006 World Cup theme, and was married to "person you were surprised to find was still alive" Jean Boht.

4 pointsBarry White has a quality about him that is unmistakably sensuous. However, none of his singles imho are particularly exceptional, but all are listenable. Putting on one of his albums is like….like being at an art exhibit with wine and string arrangements playing in the background: No one piece of art or glass of wine or string arrangement stands out, but I sure as hell am enjoying where I’m at.

3 pointsamong the list of The Greatest Frenchman (list here) from the eponymous show of 2005, the whole top 20 is dead. Here are the survivors from the top 100 : - 21 : Zinedine Zidane (footballer, 1972) - 41 : Michel Platini (footballer, 1955) - 45 : Michel Sardou (singer, 1947) - still active and all over the media to spread his conservative bullshit - 51 : David Douillet (judoka, 1969) - 53 : Jean Jacques Goldman (singer, 1951) - 56 : Yannick Noah (tennisman, 1960) - 60 : Nicolas Hulot (politician, 1955) - 62 : Alain Delon (actor, 1935) - we know his health scares… - 63 : Patrick Poivre d'Arvor (presenter, 1947) - convicted of sexual assault and harassment by numerous women. Seemed to have aged in his last appearances. Leukemia survivor when he was 12. Lost three of his child, Soleen from suicide and anorexia in 1995, Tiphaine at 2 months old and Garance from traffic collision. His wife died a month ago aged 81. Might finish him. - 64 : Aimé Jacquet (footballer, 1941) - looked a little frail in his last appearances and quite tired but probably has a few years left - 65 : Francis Cabrel (singer, 1951) - 66 : Brigitte Bardot (actress, 1934) - as for Delon, no need to explain here - 73 : Renaud (singer, 1952) - The french Shane McGowan. former alcoolic, chainsmoker (3 packs a day), drug addict, open heart surgery in 2021, hospitalised after a fall in 2019, again in 2020 for pulmonary emphysema, looked frail for years, in his last appearance he could hardly stand still and was constantly shaking. He'll be dead in 2 years max. - 74 : Bernard Kouchner (politician and humanitarian, 1939) - said to be on his last leg - 78 : Michel Drucker (presenter, 1942) - constant hospitalizations this last 2 years, 3 heart surgery since 2020 and possibly a heart attack a few years ago. Looked really frail in this last photo. 2 years max. - 87 : José Bove (politician, 1953) - 89 : Lionel Jospin (former PM, 1937) - said to be in poor health - 91 : Luc Besson (film director, 1959) - 97 : Catherine Deneuve (actress, 1943) - might have a few years left (has good genes based on her mother's final age) but a heavy smoker, stroke survivor and looked frail recently. She'll be 80 in october. Though still performing as Bernadette Chirac for an upcoming movie in october. A friend of mine had her multiple times in his shop in Paris and said that she was the only person who was allowed to smoke inside, his directors were aware and told him "It's Catherine, we can't say anything"… Quite a funny story ! - 99 : Gerard Depardieu (actor, 1942) - obese, alcoholic, smoker and from when I saw him in concert last year, he couldn't stand still (was always sit on his chair) and was short or breath. But still able to perform so not a risk for now. Renaud, Drucker, Bardot and Jospin are the upcoming deaths here

3 pointsExactly. He will be on the list until passing away. It's going to happen. Might as well accept it. Only thing left is to argue over the arbitrary number he's given. On that note. Jimmy Carter not being #1 is a crime.

2 pointsI'd be more interested to know why DL committee has placed him at no 1 spot when there are terminally ill people on the list
-
2 pointsHell yeah, always hard to call these types but he's gone down quickly and lengthy spells in ICU are dead pool gold, soon if not immediately. Frankly, he looks more desperate than happy in that picture IMHO. This thread could get lively from here on in.

2 pointsTbh if it were down to me, Barry would still be in it. But given that he juuust about crept through to the final with 14 points, making him by far the lowest scoring qualifier, outlasting 5 other songs is an achievement in itself.

1 pointThere's a posting in Startiger that says Canadian hockey player George Samolenko (Wiki) is dead.

Nostalgia's starting to hit hard and whittling this down to 5 or 6 (how many are we getting again?) is going to be tough. Surprised Round Round was the first Sugababes song to go, I'd say that's the boppiest of the 3 they had in this period (you forget how successful they were amongst the chaos of the group changes).

1 pointThe history of the DL forum Some random posters: "Totally need to drop this really old guy/woman, they're fine for another few years." Old person is dropped in December from the DL list. Old person then snuffs it a few months later, due to being really old. Same random posters: "OMG what a miss what were they thinking???"

1 pointI've removed Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed from the list as the Arabic wiki page on him has changed his birthyear to 1942. I think that's his correct birth year as I can't find much mentions of him before 1966 and he doesn't look 97. Sheikh Salem Al-Ali of Kuwait is probably the oldest living male royal and excluding Saudi royals (there's tens of thousands of them) the oldest living Arab royal. Another ancient mother of a royal is Bandhu Savali Kitiyakara, mother of Thai King's ex-wife Princess Soamsawali (who suffered two strokes in 2019 and has seemingly been wheelchairbound and paralyzed since) and grandmother of Princess Bajrakitiyabha...Her health has been very bad for atleast the last ten years and she's now 89.

1 pointHe has been frail with multiple health issues for a couple of years now, but this is the first time he looks like a skeleton. The video doesn't convince me he'll see his 90th birthday (June next year) and even making 2024 seems like it could be a stretch. By the way, he was also suffering from a blood infection, which is the reason why he was in hospital for nine days.

1 pointCrossPosting here for specificity. Billionaire businessman James “Jim” Crown died in a car racing accident at a motorsports park in Colorado Sunday — the same day he turned 70 years old. https://nypost.com/2023/06/26/billionaire-james-crown-dies-in-crash-at-colorado-racetrack/amp/
